Eggs for breakfast in Paris

We are saying near the Opera stop in Paris- where can we get breakfast that includes eggs as well as crossiants?

Almost anywhere you go for breakfast. Just ask! But if you really want to push it, go to Egg and Company in the 6th (www.eggsandco.fr/)

I wouldn't travel to Montmartre just for breakfast but if you are otherwise planning to go there, check out http://www.coquelicot-montmartre.com...in-montmartre/.

Croque madame and a demi-rouge is a wonderful way to start the day...

You can get an omelette in any cafe.

Gretchen May 3rd, 2014 02:22 AM

As others have said, readily available in any café. We used to go to one on rue Cler that advertised an egg breakfast.

Thanks everyone. For LeFlore en I'lle how late can we get breakfast? Since it has a great view does it get crowded in the morning say around 10-11am?

Cafe Bonaparte in the 6th has a delicious bacon and egg breakfast.

If you're staying near Opéra, the Café de la Paix in the very center of things, ground floor of the InterContinental Hotel) is surely one of the most well-known (and most over-priced, but c'est la vie) places to grab a bite and watch that part of Paris pass by.

Ah, eggs for breakfast, that is a complicated subject indeed and not easily answered without a LOT more information on just what you mean by 'eggs for breakfast'.

Do you want bacon with them? Canadian bacon, British bacon or American bacon?

What about toast? If you want toast, do you want white toast, whole wheat toast, sourdough toast, door stopper toast, etc. etc.?

Then there are the other acommpaniments like beans, hash browns, blood pudding, homefries, etc. etc. Do you want any of them?

Do you want your eggs over easy, sunny side up, boiled (soft or hard), poached? This can be crucial. In the UK for example, getting a fried egg that isn't like rubber is difficult indeed in some places.

No, no, BillT, you cannot simply say 'eggs' and expect that what you mean by that is going to be found in any restaurant in Paris that happens to know what an egg is.

There are 'eggs' and there are 'eggs for breakfast' if you know what I mean.

Most of the big brasseries all over Paris have "complete" breakfasts with eggs available, but often not at any price that I would ever want to pay. Of course, I have absolutely no desire for eggs at breakfast, so the problem is already solved. However, across from Gare du Nord, just about all of the cafés have "English" breakfasts with eggs, sausages and beans for incredibly low prices, since they are engaged in a price war. Not too long ago, I was sitting in one of those cafés just having an espresso, but I saw some of the breakfasts and they looked like they were astounding value for the price charged.

" In the UK for example, getting a fried egg that isn't like rubber is difficult indeed in some places."

Quoi?

@dulcius...<<<In the UK for example, getting a fried egg that isn't like rubber is difficult indeed in some places.>>>

LOL! Nice to know there's a connoisseur of UK greasy spoon breakfast joints on the forum!

Further to my last. Don't these images just make you lust...

No, not really Lancaster. Having been afflicted of an English wife for a number of years those sorts of breakfasts make my gut clench. The beans, the fried tomatoes, the blood sausage, the mealy bangers, and the cold limp toast are enough to gag a maggot, IMHO.

Christina May 3rd, 2014 01:15 PM

Omelettes are ubiquitous in cafes. I'd forget the fried eggs, or scrambled, if you want to find it easily. I'm sure your hotel probably serves them, though.

LancasterLad May 3rd, 2014 01:49 PM

Nukesafe, I agree.
Natural yoghurt, sliced banana , kiwi fruit, and muesli pour moi petit déjeuner.

giro May 3rd, 2014 08:36 PM

If all else fails, order a hamburger...and tell them to hold the burger, you will be left with a nice sunny-side up egg :)

Or you could try Breakfast in America. They have several locations and always a long line!!

kerouac May 4th, 2014 03:07 AM

Yes, everybody loves waiting in line for breakfast rather than actually eating breakfast. ;-)
