Robes has posted something silly (dare I say stupid) a time or two and when called on it has deleted his misinformation. So he has made good use of this feature.

Can you go back a day or so after and change a post? Or even if you close the browser window?

steviegene Jan 22nd, 2007 08:33 AM

This kindof reminds me of 1984 - and the thought police going back to change history.

lawchick Jan 22nd, 2007 08:33 AM

Yes I did it (changed a post from last week)

This could be dangerous. Watch out all ye who have slandered me in the past

missypie Jan 22nd, 2007 08:36 AM

I am going to edit this post.
Did this work?

missypie Jan 22nd, 2007 08:37 AM

It worked. Thanks.

steviegene Jan 22nd, 2007 08:38 AM

starrsville Jan 22nd, 2007 08:39 AM

lawchick, how did you change a post from last week?

How did you "activate" the post you wanted to edit?

EmilyS Jan 22nd, 2007 08:50 AM

I'm going to try this.

EmilyS Jan 22nd, 2007 08:51 AM

Ok it worked this time.

robjame Jan 22nd, 2007 09:22 AM

starrsville,
I had no idea that was possible myself!

I swear I just saw a reply from lawchick that said something like:
"History...Cylons"

Now it's...well...gone. :?
Curiouser and curiouser yet!

starrsville Jan 22nd, 2007 10:13 AM

Yep.
When she first posted it said just "history".
Now, both versions are gone.

starrsville Jan 22nd, 2007 10:16 AM

Hey, lawchick, could you tell how cig how to do it so the trip report can get back to normal?

cigalechanta Jan 22nd, 2007 10:20 AM

LAWCHICK!!! I need your help in deleting aa bad post on Maitai Tom's thread.

Thanks Starrsville for that suggestion

lawchick Jan 22nd, 2007 10:21 AM

Access your history - ie from last week (if you keep it that long on your computer) and do it from there.

But - it seems - the usual rules about time travel apply - when you start messin' with the past (ie your history) everything gets frackked up. I managed to edit very old posts and then I couldn't edit my newer ones. So when I tried it then with the newer ones - it didn't work and edited messages came up as new ones and this annoyed some people with no sense of humour.

Now I can't get rid of some of my cylon positing. Frak!

lawchick Jan 22nd, 2007 10:22 AM

But, the most embarassing one for me is my foiegrasfauxpas.

starrsville Jan 22nd, 2007 10:23 AM

You're welcome cig. Hope it works!

Dang! A good idea from a Stupid Poster. Is the sky falling?
