Dubrovnik and what else?
We will be traveling to this area for the 1st time. Where should we go besides Dubrovnik? Where is the most scenic area? Where is the most charming area? etc. Thanks.

You could go further south to Kotor alongside the Boka Kotorska (Kotor Bay): a lovely little town and a very scenic drive alongside the coastal road. Some nice little villages such as Perast with the Viscovic-palace.
Up north, you have the Dalmation coast and the hubdreds of islands... |
Thanks for answering baldrick!

I thought a day trip from Dubrovnik over to Cavtat was a nice leisurely way to spend a day. There are boats leaving from the docks in old town, the ride gives you a very nice view of the old town.
I'd also recommend a day trip into Montenegro, I think Atlas had one that visited Kotor, Budva, Cetinje and some of the other highlights. Not sure how it is now, but a couple of years ago it seemed like it would have been difficult to arrange a visit on your own. |
Thanks for all the info.

I would suggest taking a ferry to Lopud for the day - the island has a great sandy bottom cove, hiking trails, a small village bordering the harbor - and the ferry ride coming home in the afternoon sun is intoxicating.
