StCirq Mar 14th, 2016 01:22 PM

Oh crap! I should have known! You French and your le-la's!

I'll remember that, whathello. Always good to have some guidelines.

cocofromdijon Mar 14th, 2016 01:31 PM

La beauté, la gaieté, la gentillesse, la tendresse, all feminine words...

Whathello Mar 14th, 2016 01:41 PM

Whathello Mar 15th, 2016 03:40 PM

Got to talk with colleagues from Yorkshire. I found I was doing excellent until I left. I made the mistake to talk to the guard at the exit.
I understood about 20%. My other French colleague about 5%.

Bloody language ! Bloody accent !

So we went to a Nepalese restaurant. At least we understood what was said and liked the food. Then had a beer in a nice pub in Stockport. Greetings from there ! Good local beer ....

Rubicund Mar 16th, 2016 03:06 AM

I live in Lancashire (born in Manchester) and find it difficult sometimes to understand Yorkshire folk! Well done on finding a nice pub in Stockport, but if you were drinking Robinson's beer, I'd have to take issue with the "good".

Whathello - you should try understanding the cornish accent - it took me about 5 years really to cotton onto what my next-door neighbour is saying.
