Do you really master the French language?

For those of you who speak French, fluently or not, there are a few tips in this article that could be fun to learn. http://www.thelocal.fr/20151027/11-s...rench-language .
I'd love to read an article like that for English learners!
Bon aprèm ! :)

I've never said 'Champ' in my life, I can't decipher SMS language - or hardly, and I say 'septante-trois' which is quite normal instead of 'soixante-treize'.

Du coup, tu le sens comment coco ? suis ouf ?

But yes, fun ;-)

cocofromdijon Mar 13th, 2016 08:25 AM

Non tu n'es pas ouf Whatello, je ne suis pas fan du langage SMS non plus et je ne bois du "Champ" que très rarement (but I can hear it from time to time). Septante-trois is typically Swiss or Belgian, I always say soixante-treize.

How is "champ" pronounced; in an anglicized form, with the pronunciation of the "m" and "p"?

StCirq Mar 13th, 2016 09:08 AM

Dingue!

I'm still learning SMS language. Was totally stymied yesterday to get a text asking "T'y vas kand?" Ohhhhhh....quand! And it took me a few thinks at first to figure out stp and rdv.

Michael Mar 13th, 2016 09:14 AM

<i>T'y vas kand?</i>

That's straight out of Queneau. You might want to read <u>Zazie dans le métro</u>.

StCirq Mar 13th, 2016 09:17 AM

I'll check it out, Michael. Thanks.

Je suis devant mon ordi depuis trois plombes.

cocofromdijon Mar 13th, 2016 09:19 AM

>How is "champ" pronounced< Say "champignon"(mushroom) and keep the first half saying the p at the end.

cocofromdijon Mar 13th, 2016 09:21 AM

>Je suis devant mon ordi depuis trois plombes.< moi idem , je devrais m'arracher de là ou je vais prendre racine.

StCirq Mar 13th, 2016 09:33 AM

<<je vais prendre racine.>> Now there's an idiom I had no idea was the same as in English!

Zazie is hilarious. Thanks, Michael. We'll rent it sometime soon.

annhig Mar 13th, 2016 09:59 AM

merci beaucoup pour le link a cet article intéressant.

I got it all except <<je vais prendre racine.>> Now there's an idiom I had no idea was the same as in English!

Which idiom is it the same as????

cocofromdijon Mar 13th, 2016 10:09 AM

To take root?

StCirq Mar 13th, 2016 11:11 AM

I've got to get away from here (the computer) or I'm going to take root.

Michael Mar 13th, 2016 11:26 AM

not the movie, the book, because of its spelling.

StCirq Mar 13th, 2016 11:58 AM

Ah....duh, that makes sense. I'll get it. Merci.

Whathello Mar 13th, 2016 12:14 PM

T'as pris racine, vieille branche ? Ou t'attends la chute des feuilles ?

ira Mar 14th, 2016 08:52 AM

Hey coco,

Good to hear from you.

((I))

cocofromdijon Mar 14th, 2016 01:03 PM

Bonsoir Ira, hope you're well and still travel around the world with your Lady Wife. In 2007 we met in Dijon and when I watch the video I can see that many changes occured. Hope you'll come back some day to see them. :)
