Distance from Florence to Venice
Does anyone know how long it takes to get from Florence to Venice by car? Is there a train between the two cities? If so, how long would that take?
|
We did that drive a couple of years ago. The directions we followed said 160 miles should take about 2 1/2 hours. However, we stopped for lunch and ran into some fog and a little bit of traffic so it took about 4 hours.
We found that whatever directions we were given, the driving times were always longer, usually by about 20%...sometimes longer depending on how lost we were. By train on the EuroStar, the trip is about 3 hours. |
As Lorac says, the Eurostar takes approx 3 hours and full fares are 44 euro first class, 30 euro second class according to trenitalia.com (the official Italian train site).

From Venice to Florence is normally 3 hours to drive. Take A4 to Padova then A13 to Bologna and then A1 to Florence. One way tolls will be 18 euro. Try to time your drive so that you are not passing Bologna between 0730 to 0900 or 1700 to 1900 this is the highest traffic time.
There are trains all day and if you are not in a hurry this is the least stressful way to go. |
Thanks Lorac1127.

Thanks for all your help. I think we'll take a trian--it sounds the least stressful.
