Joe, it is wonderful to see someone else's enthusiasm for France! I hope you and your wife get to go back very soon.
Anselm |
Joe, I was one of the ones who said to stay in Paris for your last night. I have to say, you won me over! It sounded like your farewell to France was just about perfect. ((Y))

mermaid and starrsville,
One of the tidbits that I tried to mention is that I also had the best night's sleep in months at the Sheraton. The beds were so comfortable I slept like a brick! Plus that last travel day was so easy - all we had to do was get on the plane. Anselm, It's easy being enthusiastic. Lynn already said to me this morning, "Maybe we can go back in fall." JoeG |
Dear JoeG
When you get tired of Lynn (though I doubt it if you ever will, she sounds great), please, do get in touch. You seem like just the person with whom I would really love to travel! Besides, you are a fantastic narrator, I just couldn't stop reading your messages. Because of them, I will have to save up for a trip to Provence next year! |
cesisard,
Thank you for the kind remarks. I haven't gotten tired of Lynn after 32 years so I don't expect that to change. It's amazing to me that you can even stand someone after 32 years much less actually like them. >> I will have to save up for a trip to Provence << If you are good at finding good deals on air fare etc., you don't have to spend a fortune to travel abroad. Our air fare to France for example was $375. Last year we paid $298 round trip to London. Our rental car was under $300 (+$60 for gas). The TGV fares can be had for 20e. Two years ago we stayed at Hotel Le Calendal in Arles in a lovely room for only 75e/night. Food can cost as much or as little as you'd like to spend. Plus as I always figured, you have to eat at home anyway. JoeG |
welcome back Joe, wonderful report and you visited all my favorite places.
provence is my constant state of mind. |
Mimi,
Did you see the 2 page picture of Bistro du Paradou in the new issue of Conde Nast Traveler? JoeG |
Nice report - thanks for posting it.
|
Hey, Joe.
Great trip report. Glad it all went so well. |
Hi Joe, yes I did. I had snapped a photo of the bistro and had it made into note cards for other fans.
|
Joe, thank you so much for your newest post. Once again you had me reading eagerly looking for all your wonderful detail. What a gift for story telling! When you described how Lynn lost it "language wise "I was laughing so hard I had tears. You two know how to do it up right!!
|
Joe, any pictures for me and foderites?
|
Mimi,
I do have some interior and exterior photos of The Forge as well as le Moulin de Greoux. There are a couple good shots of the markets plus Pont du Gard. I have this belief that if you gave a digital camera to a baboon and it snapped 100 pictures, you'ld get a handful of keepers. On this trip I put that philosophy to the test. I think we were just too busy having fun! I'm not sure how to post these, but if anyone is really interested , I could try emailing them. [email protected] JoeG |
