Department stores in Rome

Hello Does anyone know of a department store in Rome? Something like "el corte ingles" in Spain or "Kaufhaus" in Germany.

There are several, but you may have to go out of your way to find them. Rome has lots of smaller shops - many are part of chains, but mega dept stores aren't as common in Rome as, for example, Kaufhaus.

What specifically are you looking for?

We have visited La Rinascente in Rome several times. I believe they have two locations.

Upim are pretty much ubiquitous in Italy. They are a good standard, department store with a decent rage of women's basics, jeans, lingerie, etc. They stock toiletries and household goods as well.

UPIM is a large step down in quality - and price - from El Corte Ingles.

UPIM is somewhere between a Woolworth and JC Penney. Some locations are nicer and larger, but many are not.

COIN is another department store with multiple locations, Via Cola di Rienzo is one that I remember.

Thank you so much for your information, I need to buy an european hair blow dryer I travel a lot with my husband and like to have one with me at all times.

I haven't purchased a hair dryer in Upim or Coins etc. tribi. Not saying they don't have them. But I have purchased hair dryers in stores that sells electronic appliances. They are always small shops.

If you need electrics / electronics appliances in rome forget about Upim, Coin and Rinascente. I strongly suggest you to see at one of the Di Salvo & della Martira shop, which is well known as the cheaper chain in Rome. On of the shop near the city center is right behind St. Angel Castle and near the Vatican.
Here is it's position on google map

I know for sure about the quality of their services and low prices because they are just few blocks from our office and we use them often (computer accessories for the office and mobile phone).
