Day trips from Paris

I will be in Paris from 30 Dec - 4 Jan and am looking for a day trip that isn't touristy. I've been to Versailles, and seen chateaux in the Loire Valley, so I'd like to see something new/different/ off the beaten path.

Hi and welcome on board :-)
Take a train from Gare de Lyon in Paris and 1h40 later discover Dijon and its Dukes of Burgundy heritage. It is not really off the beaten path but Dijon is quiet in the winter. Go to the tourist office and ask for the owl's trail brochure (2€) to follow the path that leads to the nicest sites.

And to give you an idea of what can be seen, here are my Dijon pics.

Nice suggestions so far; you could also take the train to Rouen

For a day trip, we joined a Fat Tire Bike Tour and went to explore Monet's Gardens in Giverny. It was wonderful.

Monet's house and gardens are closed in winter.
Chartres is also a possible day trip, or Provins.
