cover time for trains
If we wished to travel from venice (mestre)to Milan but wished to stop over a day in verona and then 2 days at lake garda which train ticket should we get OR should we travel from venice to lake garda (decenzano) on a ticket stopping off at verona en route?
|
I would simply buy point to point tickets
Separate tickts: Venice to Verona (11.50 Euro) Verona to Lake Garda (Desenzano) (2.40 Euro, trains a couple times an hour) Lake Garda to Milan (11 Euro) are about the same cost as Venice-Milan ticket (23 Euro) |
what is this train tht you have priced me for? This info is great!! But I can't find the site to buy tickets. Thank you for your help

TYP.
I looked up the schedules on www.trenitalia.com. There is no need to pre-purchase tickets for these routes. From Venice to Verona it's only about 1hr travel, and there are trains 2-3 times per hour. You can simply go to the train station when you wish to travel, buy a ticket, and get on the train. Ditto for the other legs. If you want to have tickets in hand beforehand, buy them at the train station a day ahead - but really no need. |
Hi TYP - Are you planning to stay in Desenzano?
If not, most other places on the eastern side of the lake are accessible by bus from Verona - e.g Torre del Benaco, Malcesine, Riva ... Hope this helps ... Steve |
we do plan to stay in Desenzano for a few days beofre heading to Milan and then home. Do all trenitalia trains from venice to milan stop at desenzano?
Thanks for all your great advice! |
No they don't all stop at this secondary station but many do. Train station is on top of a hill from the main town around the dock.
