Country walks outside Siena
I will be teleworking from Siena and was hoping to sometimes just take a stroll on a country road before or after work or on the weekend. Not necessarily a hike up a mountain.... but a pastoral walk that does NOT involve a car. Besides walking around lovely Siena, are there country roads that are accessible to walk? Thanks.

Do you mind taking a bus to a location then walking - if so their are some stunning routes around Montisi, Crete Senesi and Murlo - vistas where Galdiator and The English Patient were filmed - all on old farm tracks with ruined farmhouses - just stunning

https://www.fodors.com/community/eur...siena-1709848/ The Via Francigena passes through Siena. I've done sections in other parts of Tuscany and enjoyed the walks through the countryside. Some of it was on paved side roads, but much of the parts I did were dirt roads or paths through fields. I've never done any sections immediately near Siena. Zooming in on the map it looks like the area around Siena is all on local roads. https://www.viefrancigene.org/en/introduction/ https://www.viefrancigene.org/en/interactive-map/ |
In the opposite direction from Siena, there are nice hikes around San Gimignano and Colle di Val d'Elsa.
