Maribel, I'm sorry to ask yet another question, but here it is:
I have my restaurants pretty much booked in Cordoba, but I'm having trouble fitting in El Pisto, as my hotel now tells me that they are closed on Thursday, March 7, as well as on the previous Monday. Do I need a lunch reservation during the week or could I just stop in and take a seat in the Bar area?. Since I have breakfasts at the hotel, and dinners booked, I want only to stop into El Pisto for one dish...probably mazamora, which I've never tried, or salmorejo...(their Carta is not available now on their website)...just to get the feel of the atmosphere which looks compelling. It looks as if it is a rather large place so maybe I do not need all this back and forth with the Hospes about a stop-in for a snack. (??). Is March 7 a holiday? I know it is not Andalucia Day, but the hotel says they are closed then, contrary to the horario on their site. |
Hi ekscrunchy,
Ask away! For El Pisto you can just walk in and order at the bar, but go early, as you may not be able to grab a seat. Come to think of it, I can't remember if there ARE any seats in the bar area. Once we went at "rush hour" for an aperitivo, and we stood at a wine barrel. For a snack, just go in when they open at 1. No, March 7 isn't a holiday in Andalucía, so I don´t know why they would be closed. |

I could not figure that out, either and I have to say that it has not been so easy to communicate with the hotel about restaurants. But as long as I can stop by El Pisto, even if I have to perch near a wine barrel, it will be fine..this will not be a long meal and it will be fun to be around the bar area crowd. I really was confused by their horario listed on their own website, until I realized that they list the hours to PHONE for a booking, NOT the opening times! Silly me!! |
In the bar area, I believe, now that I think about it, that everyone perches at a wine barrel in the tile filled room adjacent to the bar or stands at the bar. We plan to stop in for a bite after arriving on the IRYO from Madrid but it will be after you visit. Of course, there is a very pretty flower-filled dining room but we plan to just have an aperitivo.
