Findhorn?
|
That was quick! How did you know this, if I may ask? I'd never heard of it until a young colleague at work spoke about wanting to vacation there.
You're up! |
Well, grandmere, it's Google of course. :-) No, it's not the sort of thing I'd know -- I'm probably the least health-conscious person you'll know. :-)
|
It isn't the type of thing I'm "into" either, but it sounds fascinating, in a way, at least to read about. Evidently they have grown 40 lb cabbages in the poor, sandy soil of that area of Scotland.
|
Definitely sounds interesting.
Clue: This fashion designer (last name = 8 letters, 6th = i) has apparently found new use for this (European?) staple (5 letters, 2nd = r). |
Gaultier & bread?
|
Yes! So it's your turn.
(Are my clues getting too easy? :-) ) |
I read about it recently. I thought about using it as a clue too.
Next clue: This French seaport town attracted numerous impressionist & post-impressionist painters. One of the streets in the town was named after one of the painters, known for his symbolism. The current town mayor, interestingly, is related to an American politician. Town: 4 words (5,5,3,3, with "B" the 1st letter of 2nd word) Painter: 5, 7 ("B" is the 1st letter of last name) Politician: 4,5 |
Wow. That's an interesting clue.
Saint-Briac-sur-Mer Emile Bernard John Kerry Again Google was indispensable, but it took me a while to figure out what I needed to feed it. I need to do some work now. :-) |
Interesting, isn't it?
Apart from Emile Bernard, Renoir & Gauguin also painted in Saint-Briac-Sur-Mer. Brice Lalonde, who is John Kerry's 1st cousin, is the mayor of the town. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politic...y-france_x.htm |
It's definitely interesting. And I read somewhere that Kerry speaks fluent French (not too surprising now, I suppose) and wooed Teresa Heinz with it.
Now I need to think of a clue.... |
Supposedly this shop in a certain European city has become quite chic and famous:
(8 letters, #5 = e). Drop one letter from this shop to get the name of a famous writer (the name has 7 letters, in other words). Both the shop and the writer are connected via the same "nationality" (or country, if you will). |
Sorry, bad research on my part. Apparently the two have the same number of letters (7 letters, and position 4 = "e").
|
Actually I'm kind of curious to know if m_kingdom would shop at this shop. :-)I've not had a chance to check it out.
|
I'll take that as a hint, that the shop is in London?
|
No, it's not. I don't want to mislead you. But it's just as popular (which I guess limits your choices to maybe 2 or 3 others :-) ).
|
"it's just as popular" -- I mean the city is just as popular, of course, i.e. of the "same stature" (whatever that means) as London.
|
Colette?
|
Wow, that's quick.
Which lists were you looking at? :-) I'm going to go now. This is serious addiction. By the way, supposedly Colette is a "concept store" (which is itself a concept, of course) and there're supposedly now "anti-concept stores." Colette has a website. |
