Cologne to Rothenberg help!!!!
 

Does anybody know of a day trip (bus tour) that takes you from Cologne to Rothenberg and back to Cologne. Your advice is sought

I don't, but it would likely be quicker to just take the train. Rothenburg is an enclosed, walled city. You really don't need a guide. In fact, half the fun is just meandering around. I would plan an overnight (@ least) there as well. The Night Watchmans tour is very good & they also have an interesting puppet show right near the park (most evenings). In addition, after 5, the tourist hordes leave & then you can really enjoy the place. There are many reports on here, including places to stay & restaurant recs.

The fastest train routes, with two or three connections, take four hours. The standard 2nd class fare is €89, but Dauer-Spezial fares start at €29. Book well in advance at www.bahn.de. Click on "Internat. Guests" for English. Enter "Koeln" and "Rothenburg ob der Tauber".

Rothenburg is also at the end of the line, so to speak...via train
