I will be travelling to Paris in September for a week. I would like to take a day and maybe visit Rome and a day in Monaco. <BR><BR>-Is there a train that will take me from Paris to Monaco and from Paris to Rome or are they too far apart? <BR>- Does anyone know how long it will take and can it be done in a day?

I will assume this is a serious question, not a troll. You cannot do Rome or Monaco as a day trip from Paris, they are hundreds of miles away. I do not mean this in a bad way, but please get a good map of Europe before you start planning. London can be done from Paris in a day trip because it is one hour by air or 3 by Eurostar (high speed train through English Channel, usually one day trips are done on Eurostar by most people). With one week tho I'd concentrate on Paris, there is more then enough to see there believe me, to fill up a week. Most "day trips" from Paris are to Versailles, Fountainbleu, Chartres, Giverny ... You need to get some books and do some serious planning.

yeah, in the cargo hold of an Air France Jet flying from Paris to Rome and back. Try Paris CDG. Oh, and don't forget to pack a 'chute so you can bail out over Monaco en route between Rome & Paris. Thatway you'll just have to get a taxi from Monaco back to Paris to complete the round trip.<BR>Easy as pie.... Uncle: you are such a spoil sport!

If you do this it will have to be by plane not by train. The train takes around 9hrs to Nice from Paris and then 45mins from Nice to Monaco. From Paris to Rome the travel by train is close to 15hrs. I did Paris to Rome last year on the overnight Artesia train, this way I left Paris in the evening spent the night on the train and arrived at Rome Termini station the next morning.<BR><BR>Rome is not a city that you want to spend only one day in, if anything fly to Nice from Paris and go to Monaco.

sophie, pay no attention to these unsophisticated and unwashed masses. You certainly can arrive in Monaco for a lovely day. The heliport at Porte de Sevres is just so adorable for a grabbing a quick heli ride to all sorts of delicious places. Or just call Rainier, and have him send his jet for you. He's such a prince (ho ho he does love that little jest so much) that he'll even have the jet fly you to Rome for a day. Do bring him a small gift for his kindnesses - something in gold is always appreciated.

Sophie dear, people are picking on you because you obviously have no idea what you are doing & your questions make you an easy mark. Lord help you in Paris on your own. If you have no idea how far Rome is from Paris, then you need to put your vacation money towards an education. Rome is a whole separate trip. The train to Nice and then Monaco can be done, but you would lose so much time travelling. Why bother? For a few hours in Monaco? Not worth it. Enjoy your week in Paris. It sounds like you are going to have more difficulty navigating then you think (based on your questions). I would keep my itinerary simple.

I'm sorry, but this was just toooo funny. Could this question possibly be for real??? So, if I buy really good hiking boots, can anyone recommend a nice, picturesque route from, say, Madrid to the Ural Mountains? I am interested in seeing as much of Europe as possible. Thanks.

I went to Rome for a day in February. I live in Aberdeen, Scotland! It is feasible Sophie but why not try flying!
