Thanks for the websites. I sent an e-mail to the good people at Chex Mix to see if they do indeed sell the product in London. I was quite impressed with the site = they have all kinds of gift ideas. It's amazing what they come up with. I know people are waiting impatiently with the anticipation of their response so I will keep you informed.
I thought of some more traveled related chex mix statements/questions 1. What hotel in Paris would consider serving Chex Mix? 2. Would Pup like Chex Mix? 3. Which area of London would you probably find people who like Chex Mix? Covent Garden or South Kensington? 4. Can you eat Chex Mix on the Eurostar? 5. Chex mix doesn't always travel well in moneybelts. |

I adore chex mix, and know why too much about cereal selections in London. Shreddies are similar to wheat chex but have a slight malted taste. I have yet to find corn chex. Crispex is sold in London, but it is much much sweeter than the US. A health food store MIGHT have a corn cereal that would work well. YUM!

I almost hate to post this reply, but since your British friends thought your mix was so fab, would you mind sharing your recipe? See, I told you I almost hated to post the reply! But really, I'm serious, would you share your recipe? I'd like to try it out on my folks here at Chez Moi. (I'd insert a smiley face here, but I'm not into emoticons - LOL)

As requested, the Christmas Mix recipe. It was given by a student at our school three years ago. She made the mix for all of the teachers and gave us the receipe card.
Joanna's Christmas Mix Melt 1 pound of white chocolate in the microwave. In a larger container mix, 1 cup of salted peanuts, 1 cup of M&Ms, 1 cup of pretzels, 1 cup of Cheerios, 2 cups of Rice Chex, 2 cups of Corn Chex, 2 cups of Wheat Chex. Pour the melted white chocolate over the dry mixture. Blend and let set. Break apart and enjoy. Note: I do not make it with Cheerios - you can vary as you like. |
Thanks for posting the recipe! I have already copied it down and will be making it for my children to give their teachers as a Valentine happy. I will be using the Valentine M&Ms mix. I will make it again at Easter and use the Easter colors M&Ms. And when Christmas rolls around, I will use the red and green M&M's.

Let me start by saying I ADORE Chex Mix!! And not that pre-packaged crap -- it's gotta be ho-made. I'm living in France and have only found honey-flavored Crispix, which I can only assume is all wrong for the original garlicky worscheshirey tasty treat. Alas, if anyone knows where to buy this stuff let me know. Meanwhile, I was back in Cal for Chex-mas and my Mom had it waiting for me. I'm ashamed to admit how much of that I ate over a three day period!

Note to Crepes - we could make some serious cash Xporting Chex to the Euro Zone I think. Not that I am promoting a business because that would be against policies around here. Just thinking out loud.
Babette: Ho-made or homemade? That might take this thread to a totally different level. I think I'm just reading into things. I will be in Paris in April maybe I should set up a stand to sell the stuff on the Champs Elysees? :) |
