Cell Phones

We will be in Italy for 3 weeks, what is the best deal on rental and call rates ? Our parents are elderly and we are only interested in receiving calls from the USA, thanks

OOOps - do a search for cell phones on here. I was going to post this question also, but since I was told to search first before posting, I did. There is a lot of great info on here under cell phones. I saw that renting is not that expensive, but the calls made on the cell phone are. You can rent in the U.S. or in Italy.

this looks promising: travelcell is offering a free phone deal if you order by 6/30. call 877-CELLPHONE. mention promo code NR512. www. travelcell.com.

Hey Ron - that looks like a pretty good deal. Cheaper than what I was looking at. Thanks!

a few days ago I posted something in regards to free cell phones in Europe - do a search under flygirl and it should come right up.

Hey Donnabee -

Thanks for searching - we have been having this discussion on another post, and as you can see - searching does work!

Hello All,

I just ordered the free-phone deal through Travelphone today. It ended up being $20 (plus whatever I use of phone time, but all INCOMING calls are free)for the postage each way via Federal Express and a hands-free mic.

One week to go until London -- hooray!

Is Travelphone a different company then Travelcell. If so how did you contact them? I put in the URL - (Travelphone) with no related results. I am going to italy for the month of July and need a phone available to me. I'd like to get one without having to buy or lease one for $100.00 or thereabouts.

Oops! I meant Travelcell.

sera May 16th, 2003 04:56 AM

Sounds like a good deal. But does travel cell charge your credit card some enormous amount until the phone is returned?

BritishMusicFan May 16th, 2003 09:01 AM

Sera,

Travelcell does authorize a $250 U.S. deposit while you rent the phone.
