CCF SETTLEMENT
It seems like the largest 'consumer class action suit 'ever', is getting close to being resolved. We filed 'option 2, having spent 251 days in Europe during the ten year period, 1996-2006. Ths final brief, yet to be accepted, allows $86 million for 'lawyers' and $336 million plus interest for 'consumers'. Many people 'scoff'' at class action suits. We shall see. Thanks for the update. I've been wondering about this.
Waiting for my piece of the pie, too. I had just emailed them a couple weeks ago to ask for the site to be updated, if there was one. They emailed back but said the claims process was still ongoing. So this is a new status, thanks.
Forgot all about this - never thought I would get a check in the mail anyway. But who knows - maybe we will all be surprised.
Court has issued a final settlement order. WE SHALL SEE. Richard WWW.ccfsettlement.com/home/
Glad to hear it. Maybe we'll get a check in time for Christmas!!!
Hi bettyk; Probably Christmas, 2010. There will be a 'final judgment' of the 'final settlement', plus hearing any additional appeals, before checks will be issued. But the process is moving, 'slowly'. Richard
You're such a party pooper, Richard!!
It would be funny if the slice of pie came out to $1 for every person. LOL!!
Bettyk, your right. However, I still want my $1. Richard
Thanks for the update. We filled out the 'long form', too, so maybe will get a few dollars back.
I spent over 500 days in Europe during the settlement period. What sort of compensation per day do you expect? $1, $25...?
Here's the current status, from the ccf settlement website posted above. Appeals are in process, so it won't be settled (paid) any time soon.
"The Court granted final approval of the settlement in a Memorandum and Order, dated October 22, 2009, and, on November 4, 2009, the Court entered a Final Judgment and Order of Dismissal in this case. Eleven appeals have been filed challenging the Court's approval of the settlement. The parties are litigating these appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. The issuance of refund checks for valid, timely claims will not commence until after the appeals are resolved (in favor of the Court-approved settlement), and the Settlement Administrator has validated the claims. " |
So no check this year. Will have to be sure and mention this in my will. :)
Took only 5 minutes on-line to file option 1 or 2. The problem is, so many more people filed a claim than was projected, that all claims [settlements] will be pro rated 'down'. We shall see. No harm no foul
This feels strangely like Jarndyce vs. Jarndyce.
Loved Charles Dickens. Underhill, I think you are on to something??!!!!
bookmarking, thanks.
Is this the same lawsuit? I thought "ours" had to do with how they did or didn't divulge foreign transaction fees.
jaja; This is against Visa, Master Card and Discover. Sounds like the same lawsuit you are talking about.
This one seems to be about arbitration clauses and not foreign transaction fees.
I'm not spending the money before it arrives in any case. |
Hi; Actually it is about foreigh transactions fees, but now in the final stages. We shall see. I agree, don't spend the money.
<<This feels strangely like Jarndyce vs. Jarndyce..
Yes, my heirs might end up owing them money. Strangely, I looked this up this morning before checking Fodors. The "after the appeals are resolved" statement tells me to check back next year. |
I am not an attorney and would appreciate a learned interpretation. I think the judge dismissed our claims on 7/22/2010, under a settlement agreement, the banks having agreed to buy out our class-action attorneys for $2,350,000.00

Thanks for the information and the address.
Poor Richard; no wonder he went mad and died.
He jumped off a cliff!!!
Hi TT,
I am not an attorney. I read your link. It does look to me as if the lawyers got $2.35M and the rest of us got the satisfaction of knowing that the lawyers got $2.35M. ((I)) |
As of 1/07/2011. From the Settlement Administrator; Quote,'The issuance of refund checks for valid, timely claims will not commence until after the appeals are resolved [in favor of the Court-approved settlement] and the Settlement Administrator has validated the claims', end of quote. I still expect a dinner for two. We shall see.
I still expect enough for a single visit to the vending machine...
If any of us gets more than $0.12, I'll be surprised.
I am sorry to say I sent an itemized claim since I still had all of my credit card statements over the years. I wasted at least 6 hours on this project thinking I would get some money out of the deal. I shouldn't have bothered.
Optino 2, took me about five minutes. Whatever the outcome, no big deal.
Still holding out hope for MY 50 cent CREDIT ... ;)
Bob |
Ha; Not me, I expect a dinner for two. [If I'm still alive.] Richard

<i>"On October 5, 2011 the Court entered an Order authorizing the Settlement Administrator to disburse the available settlement funds. The process for issuing claim payments has commenced. Please be advised that due to the large number of claimants, in excess of 10 million, printing and mailing the checks will take some time. The Settlement Administrator estimates that <b>checks will begin to be mailed in early November and will continue to be mailed until the end of the year (December 31, 2011).</b>"
"We request that you remain patient as the Settlement Administrator administers and mails checks for this enormous volume of claims."</i> http://www.ccfsettlement.com/faqs/#idQ3 In case you didn't know, the individual claim amounts have been considerably reduced from original estimates. http://www.ccfsettlement.com/documen...-exhibit-H.pdf |
Thanks for the update bluestar. At this point I was no longer expecting anything so whatever they send me will seem like found money.
