I only ever have a meaningful art experience when I'm wandering on my own in a museum. It wouldn't happen in a tight bunch of people, and definitely not when racing to beat the crowds. (though that's fun in its own way) I plan to snub Mona entirely this time and look for something that speaks to me. Then I'll get out my sketchbook and pencils, and spend some time with it.

The first time I visited I hated it. I was a student and I just tried to see too much, saw nothing and was tired..a hot August day. The next time I went I took a guided tour to the "highlights". They actually had tour guides then (20+ yrs ago). I took the tour in French as the group was quite small. Since that time, I visit only 1 gallery and never stay more than 3-4 hours. One of my favorites has furniture. I love the Louvre, but like candy you can "overindulge" and spoil it!
