Actually, I spelled, Le Creuset right the second time. The first time I think I just copied it from the thread title without thinking.
Traviata now has some nice Le Creuset and I have some cookies from Mariage Freres! |
Generous, generous, generous FauxSteMarie has made me a gift of several pieces of her Le Creuset.... How lovely was that???!!!! Merci Beaucoup Faux....you are such a kind person to do that. I will enjoy using them even if it will take four hands to move them about!! |
Glad to help someone who will actually use them (not to mention lift them)!
And the cookies are delicious. While, as you know, I have Mariage Freres tea in the house, I never had tasted the cookies! Actually, a friend of mine in Paris took me out to lunch in MF the last time I was there in 2001. |
I have three pieces that stay in the bottom of a hall closet. Glad to know I'm not the only one who doesn't use them.

WOW, what a lot of responses.
Yes, sorry for the typo, I DO know how its spelled. Just an update before I read the responses. No, I didn’t find it. I started at BHV on Rue de Rivoli. What a nightmare! I am out of the habit of shopping in the January sales – frankly, I’d rather pay full price than endure those crowds. The selection of Le Creuset was smaller than I remember. They only had the standard black wok (112 Euros). It was pouring rain when I exited and I had left my umbrella at the hotel, so I got well soaked walking to the Marais to pick up a few items. I picked up some olive oil, including a very aromatic truffle oil, from Oliviers & Co 47 rue Vieille du Temple. Fragonard has opened a small outlet on Rue Francs Bourgeois (51) so I stocked up on their wonderful shower gels (I prefer the men’s line). BTW, Francs Bourgeois has become a stellar shopping street; its come a long way in the last decade. Next stop was Natalys on Rue St. Antoine to purchase some baby clothes for my niece, who is due in April, and then to a pharmacy to by some Darphin skin care products (about 30% less than home). I couldn’t face the thought of battling the crowds in Printemps to look for the wok, so I decided to try A Simon on Rue Etienne Marcel. Unfortunately, when I got to number 36, there were a couple of retail stores and a restaurant, but no restaurant supply store L. I’d had it, so I grabbed a taxi and returned to the hotel. I have checked “pagesjeunes” and it appears that A Simon has moved to 48 rue Montmartre. Lesson learned: Always check “pagesjeunes” for location before setting out. Anyway, I am not too disappointed. Frankly, when I looked at my luggage this morning I was doubtful that I had the room to pack the wok and would have had to check it in as a separate item and it probably would have been damaged. I’ll read the thread and respond later. Many thanks for your assistance. Best regards Ger |
Starrsville, I now have, thank goodness, only 2 pieces left not to use. They do last forever though.

Responding to all who were kind enough to provide advice – sorry if I miss anyone.
ekscrunchy: Thanks for the link! Much better to buy from a Canadian website if I can as we occasionally get hit with duty with cross-border purchases. Great find :) marginal_margiela: Thanks Thin, I missed this and unfortunately am only here until Sunday. Pity, because my niece lives in NY and would probably have appreciated such a “now” present from her Auntie Ger. However, I did buy some gorgeous baby things at Natalys for her older sister. BTW, there is a Balenciaga exhibition at the Arts Decoratifs, which I will visit tomorrow, and a 60s fashion exhibit at the Tate in London, which I will visit on Monday – envious? :) Faux: No, I had no intention of carrying it on as hand luggage (LOL). In the days when I packed my pots in my luggage, there was NO upper weight limit for check-in luggage; now there is a 50lb max., so I may not have been able to get away with it. What a kind offer, very gracious of you. I have collected almost the full set at this point and the only thing we are missing is the wok, so it would be selfish of me to take you up on the offer . Yes, the pots are heavy, but one of the benefits of cooking with Le Creuset is that you can get a full upper body weight workout. Angela: thanks for the website. We will do some comparative shopping. Jody & Mimi: Fly in anytime. You’ll be welcome for yourselves darlings. Hugs to both of you. AGM: I packed a pot and cover in my luggage once, from Paris, and the top cracked. Thanks, you have convinced me that checking it in might be silly Susanna: When I am in Paris again I will check “Dot” out. papagena: Its my husband that has requested it, so I guess HE will have to cook the stirfys! Good point and I think you may be right. Best regards Ger |
OReilly and Baz:
Here is the link to Dot: https://www.dot-france.com/catalog/ Baz: that store looks wonderful, love a store chockfull of stuff to sift through, thanks. |
Susanna - I had never heard of the DOT store. So many beautiful things. Thanks.
|
Susanna,
Thanks for the website! Baz |
I'm collecting the blue. Amazon sometimes has sales.

I recently spotted Le Cruset items in Winners....

I have a flame-orange lasagna pan that, even empty is extremely heavy. When I fil it with my 3 meat, 5 cheese lasagna, my husband has to put it in the oven for me.
