If you're planning (or not planning) a trip to Europe in spring, BA having great sale through Nov. 19th.

R/T Dallas to Rome was $602. With 3 nights hotel, under $750/person! There were tons of other deals and from many other us cities.

It's not really the same post. I just added it because it listed some prices from other cities, but through Kayak.

Nikki, we call them BA - which is what they are called nowadays.

And even before they were called BA....we never called them British Air....I'd been wondering if it was some budget airline I'd never head of...

Yep! they have officially joined the real word and started discounting. After nearly 200 flights and being British - we are using them for the first time (to Nassau) in Feb 2010.

I think the fact that we have not used them before simply underlines their poor place in the market place ie too expensive and milking monopoly routes.

Welcome BA to the real world.

The full name is British Airways. BA for convenience. They're in a bit of a pickle at the moment, hence all the discounts.

Not a capital offense, but you did make the "shortened" reference that AlanRow considered odd.

I think that getting the name of airlines wrong is very common - - some people (myself included at times) are peeved by it.

When America West made Columbus, Ohio (my home at the time) its "eastern hub", I used to hear people say "American West" a lot. It was like fingernails on the blackboard to me.

I call it British Airways because I don't know any better. I call AA American Airlines, and hope we aren't soon down to where we just say "The" airlines.

If they're called BA nowadays - why is their web site entitled Britishairways.com with "British Airways" at the top of the main web page?

I use www.ba.com -- the sale is until 16 November, according to my information. Anyway, I call them British Airways.

I say, "What the **** does it matter? It's a company, not some magical, historical figure." Geez, just like the city name thing, who cares.

Golly, should I say United, UA, United Air, United Airlines, or "PieceOfCr*p with no legroom"?

People talk about "Americans", well guess what-- Canadians are Americans, Mexicans are Americans, Panamanians are Americans, Brazilians are Americans, etc.

Just for that, I'm wearing white tennis shoes, a giant backpack and anything else I can think of that makes me feel like a tourist. Oh wait, I already dress that way.

Last year I flew BRITAIR to LUNDUN. This year I'm going to ITUHLI and then MEWKNICK.

IF alanRow was asking a sincere question and not indulging in a moment of petty snideness, the reason might be that US Airways is commonly known as USAir. (US Airways also has the domain name usair, type in usair.com and you're automatically redirected to usairways.com)

I was excited about the BA fare for a few moments when it hit my inbox. Then reality struck when I actually went on the site, checked the fares and found the R/T from EWR-CDG was $368 and the taxes were $333, bringing the total cost to $701. Those taxes will get you every time! Last month I flew CMH-CDG for $550 TOTAL and DH flew CMH-LGW for $402 TOTAL, both on USAirways. We're flying Delta CMH-FCO on Christmas for--wait for it--$501 TOTAL per person.
