rhkkmk Dec 21st, 2004 06:28 PM

additional information:

the hotel web site with directions is:

www.uniparkhotel.com

this has driving and walking directions from the T to the hotel...the hotel is one short block west of the corner of mass avenue and sidney street about 1/2 way between MIT and central square....it is in the middle of a huge new development...driving to this area is very easy.

the phone number for the hotel is:

617-577-0200

at some point, we will need to know if you plan to attend so we can inform the hotel about how many people to expect...

if you need additional info you may contact bob at 781-449-0903 or [email protected]

we had lots of fun last year when we got together at legal sea food in cambridge and we hope to continue that tradition...

we have a small private room next to the main part of the restaurant...a limited menu is available on saturdays as well as a brunch buffet...the bar will also be open....all are on a cash basis... i have made a small guarantee to the hotel which is 100% deductible from our lunch bill...

I finally made it home to Brown County, Indiana to see the 16 inches of snow on my deck.

I recently moved to New york after a long time in that area.
this ennayllen* is an alien to the area." *Do you sleep well?
you have very bad omens coming at you.
I heard the neighborhood had shivers when they knew you were there.

rhkkmk Dec 28th, 2004 08:16 PM

mimosa---are you crazy?? don't understand how this comment relates to a fodors GTG????

mimosa Dec 29th, 2004 08:55 AM

Sorry, my post should have been deleted.
It was a response to ennyllen who posted that the area for the Boston GTG was dangerous. They deleted it that one but not my comments.
Have fun, I already miss the area.

indytravel Dec 29th, 2004 09:16 AM

Hung out to dry mimosa? :-)

That's happened to me before too. Your trading comments with someone when suddenly all of their posts are pulled. You're stuck having a one-sided conversation in the middle of a thread.

I'm really looking forward to escaping Indiana and visiting Boston.

rhkkmk Dec 29th, 2004 07:12 PM

the area where the gtg is being held is not a dangereous area at all...it is smack in the middle of an older industrial area (recently completely torn down and rebuilt with lovely new buildings) and the campus of MIT...many fabulous restaurants are within 4 blocks....

rhkkmk Dec 29th, 2004 07:13 PM

i would like to get a rough count on the numbers who plan to attend....if you are planning to come please send me an e-mail..thanks bob

Am I missing something, do we know what time we're meeting?

cigalechanta Jan 12th, 2005 08:19 AM

Nikki, 1:pm at Sidney's at the University Hotel.

cigalechanta Jan 12th, 2005 02:48 PM

sorry, my typos reared their ugly heads...1:00 pm

lincasanova Jan 12th, 2005 03:15 PM

what envy! whenever you want to have one in valencia spain, count me in.

cigalechanta Jan 12th, 2005 03:34 PM

oh, lincasanova, I'll bet most of us wish we could be THERE wuth you. :)

lincasanova Jan 12th, 2005 03:46 PM

well.. what's keeping everyone away from this great city?

one of,if not THE largest, most extensive historic disricts

where the america's cup will be held...

and where the FALLAS festivities are...
( the week before and including march 19)
and where santiago calatrava has earned his and his future generations' retirement (our mayoress must be in love with this guy... it just never stops)

- and where we could have a great GTG!

come on over. you won't be disappointed.

p.s. inexpensive airfare from valencia to brussels, london, berlin, sevilla, paris and soon manchester, dublin.. and who knows where else!

Nikki Jan 13th, 2005 05:26 AM

Mimi, I like your first answer better. Couldn't find the time anywhere in this thread though; my reading skills must be slipping.

Lincasanova, I have a very vivid memory of the 24 hours I spent in Valencia in July, 1972. After midnight there was a parade of flowered floats, then amazing fireworks so bright it looked like daylight. Families with young children milling about at 2:00 AM. Does this festival still exist?
