Hi Annhig, I think the crime novel you mention is probably Magdalen Nabb's The Innocent from her Marshal Guarnaccia Series in which a woman's body is discovered in a pond in the Boboli Gardens.

you're probably right. I like the Magdalen Nabb series, but I do occasionally get the books mixed up with Donna Leaon's.
