Biblioteca Joanina Tour Coimbra
For those who have been, which tour did you take? Thanks.
|
I had a Private Guide in Coimbra.
I just post three pictures of this Library on Melnq8 's Post. |
Photos aren't allowed in the Joanina library anymore.
I booked through Go Walks but it ended up being contracted out to someone through Trip Advisor. It was okay but not special and at close to $40pp, not really worth it. I would go through the university and see about their availability. |
We didn't book. We just turned up and bought tickets. Not sure why one would need a 'tour'. I read the descriptions as we went on my cell phone via the supplied QR codes.

I saw it back in 2004, when you could still take photos, without flash (although mine didn't turn out very well). I didn't have a tour guide, and didn't feel a need for one. (That is true for me a lot of the time, I would rather read up on whatever it is, and then go see it at my own pace.)

I think that we purchased tickets there, that were timed for the various venues such as the library and the chapel:

On my 2017 visit, I simply went through with an on-site guide (at least then you couldn't go in on your own); I made no prior arrangement, but simply bought a ticket at the university that very day, and appeared at the library doorway at the start of one of the tours. But note that this was mid-December, definitely not high tourist season.
