Wendy; I think the trick is to bring more than one pair with you. I have boney feet and it's a problem. One year on a seven week trip I brought two pairs (arche and mephistos) and bought two pairs there and still wore them all out. I like to walk-- a lot. Sometimes I give up on trying to look cool and put on some little socks with the sandals-- not white!!! It can make a big difference.

Pat, you are right. I checked the Naturalizer site again and see that still use the eurosole technology. My sandals from last year are not on the site.

r, maybe if we all banned together and wear white anklets with sandals we can start a new trend based on retro. Our feet would thank us and we would be trend setters. Want to try it?

Call me Imelda, but I like Birkenstocks, Naot, Bjorn, Clarks, White Mountain and Dansko (these aren't in any particular order either). I've already picked out the White Mountain sandals that I will buy for the spring.

Can you wear sandals in late April? too cold?

Go with the Naturalizer Eurosport. I agree they are marvelous. My pair is very plain and has about a 3" toe strap that is one big piece of velcro for the ultimate in adjustability. I might have to see if I can find another pair on that web site since people are saying they are no longer available. If you do mail order, get them a size longer than usual--they run short.

I love Naots. A good website for them is leathersandals.com They are nice enough to wear with dresses.

Well, I'll toss another choice in here...I swear by SAS shoes and sandals. I've spent a small fortune on other brands and these feel the best on my feet. Everyone has different experiences and I don't think there's any other way than just trial and error to find what works best for you.

Wendy; When I was a young hip retro cool sort of dresser I loved those little white anklets but I don't think I could do it anymore. How about beige? !!!<BR>rebecca

Hi Paula I own a pair of wolky sandals(black leather,quite acceptable looking)and I highly recommend them.They are very comfortable for my sensitive feet.I bought them in Germany a couple of years ago;tried to get another pair(they look a bit tatty now)but the shop no longer had any.The only thing that bothered me was the black dye coming off underneath my foot for quite a long time.I will take them on my next holiday for sure.The company is dutch.Hope this helps Danny

For my trip to Italy(and for walking while at home) I'm planning of buying some driving mules. Since they don't have a back, there is no risk of getting heel blisters, which is hwat always kills me. They are a little more covering, so I won't feel too exposed--toes in church doesn't work for me. Since I'm a heels girl at heart, I'll be shopping for comfortable wedge sandals--they are very in right now. I took a pair of Banana Republic wedges to Barcelona last spring, and I could walk on the for about 4-5 hours. I felt much more comfortable going into any restuarant wearing them than sneakers.

It all depends on your feet. I know that Merrill and Ecco are good but they are just too narrow for my feet. I have had good luck with Aerosoles, Nine West, Walking Company, Naturalizer, and Easy Spirit. I prefer slide-style sandals because I find that many styles with heel straps feel comfortable in the stores but after wearing them for hours I get a blister on the back of my heel.
