I've stayed in San Luchesio, run by monks but who rent out rooms to anyone - clean, safe, friendly jean-clad monks and impressive breakfast buffet - no TVs in room but rooms with showers.

Great safe location near northern end of Vondel park - a very spiffy neat area.

Rooms run about 35 euro i think.
