The best gelateria is on Strada Nova. Definitely!

Myriam-where's the picture? Your link doesn't work.
And Nessun-those pictures are making me crave my gelato fix on the Strada Nuova in Venice right NOW. |
When you buy a gelato make sure the costs are listed somewhere .I had a gelato stand rip me off 16 euros for two small cones. The hustle is, you buy the cone outside on the streetside they hand you a cone the first thing you do is lick it,they walk to the register inside the stand where the charges are written on a piece of cardboard, then hand you 2 coins .The law is they have to post cost in their building but as soon as you lick the cone you own it.Right? My wife pulled me out of there . lesson for me always say quanda costa?HOW MUCH. No gelato is worth a sawbuck.

In all my years of going to Italy, Miaspapa, I've never seen that once.

That's weird! The pic is in one of my public albums on Webshots. I put it on Photobucket now, might work better.

I've never seen a gelateria where they don't have prices.
I just wonder if it was more a case of short changing you. When I hand over money in Italy or anywhere else, I always say what I'm handing over and apologise if it's a large note. I was told to do that by an Italian friend. |
The pics are amazing, makes me want to jump on a plane right now. Does Perche No have red tables and coca-cola decortations? The one I'm thinking of is famous for their carmel falvor, and it is much more like an ice cream shop, they don't sell anything but gelato.

No one has mentioned my favorite in Venice: Paolin in Campo Santo Stefano.
But I agree, in general, the gelato in Rome, Florence, and Bologna is better. |
