Best/cheapest way to Normandy
We will be staying in London (Kensington)and I need to find out what the cheapest way is to get to Normandy. Does anyone know what the closest port is to Normandy? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Le Havre is right at the eastern end of the part of Normandy that most people visit. A ferry from Portsmouth will get you there. Southern Railway will sell you a DaySave ticket for £10.
To get to the beaches, look into www.busverts.fr for their Le Havre-Caen ticket. |
You might also want to check some of the discount airlines - Ryanair, easyjet, etc. I don't know the specific airports they fly to, but some digging on whichbudget.com or similar site might help.

Ferries from Portsmouth go to both Cherbourg and Caen. There is a fast ferry that takes just under 4 hours, or an overnight ferry that takes 7.

Thank you for the help. I didn't realize it took so long to get there by ferry. I thought a couple hours at the most. This gives me a better idea of what to expect. Thanks a bunch!! :)
