Well I have to say that I ate there twice in late fall 2000 and had good experiences. I didn't find either of the waitresses sullen in fact the second night my sister asked if they had any of the bottles that they put the house wine in to take home and the waitress smuggled us 2...so now I have a bottle with the Polidor etching on my shelf. Also I have to say the soup was great and the chocolate tarts...of course that was a few years ago

I had dinner there in October of 2001. It was about as Patrick said, except that I don't remember particularly bad service, and it was cheap (for Paris).
OK, so everyone should eat at Polidor once! (The Turkish toilet didn't affect me, as my hotel was quite close). By the way, a Turkish toilet can be pretty wonderful if you are out in the countryside, and come upon a small village that has one near the village square. I've learned not to turn up my nose at those!

OK--I admit, I was probably drawn to the place because I heard "surly" waitstaff. I enjoy New York waitstaff, also rated "surly" by Kansas standards.

And Topeka doesn't do Turkish Toilets.

So I don't know if Sis will be going, but I am flat out intrigued.

Dave, your post is hitting the nail on the nose. Most tourists here in the USA are not as varied as let's say in my Boston area, .
