"I personally don't think it's all that horrible for a company (in this case a bank) which is in the business of making money to have charged me $3.60 for somehow making the connections and getting me $360 of my own money from several thousand miles away in a split second. Frankly, I think they've earned it."
Amen to that. Don't sweat the small stuff. |
Sorry, Neo, didn't mean to startle you so early in the morning. I didn't figure out the exact rates, just eyeballed them and they looked the same. Could be they were 1% off and I didn't catch it.

The small stuff? Could be a couple of 6-packs over a 2-week trip. :-) ((b))

Resurrect this thread because I need to know BNP Paris branch locations and my very poor French does not help me to find that info on their french site.
When Neopolitan said BNP is everywhere - which I believe as it is a big global financial institution - I would still hope to know if I can find it easily instead of bumping at it. Specifically, the street addresses or nearby attractions. One thing I believe is true, they dont have ATM at CDG, right? I would have to use HSBC or whoever for that matter. I have a Wachovia account that allows 2 free withdrawals per cycle outside its own branches and I used that whenever I cannot easily locate BofA's Global Alliance member. Thanks for anyone who posts info. |
Never mind, found it on BNP site, using Trouver une agence

I know this thread is old but here's my take.
Regarding the BOFA card, there is no ATM fee only in certain counties. For instance, if you use a Deutsche Bank in Germany, b/c of the BOFA global alliance with Germany there is no transaction fee. But if you used a Deutsche Bank ATm in Italy, you will get charged the fee. This is what happened to us. When we were in Germany waiting for our connection to Italy, I had the DH get some quick cash from the ATM. Checked my BOFA account and sure enough no fee. When we got back from our trip to Italy, there were all these charges for withdrawls we made in Italy (even though we did use a couple of Deutsche bank ATMs). All in all, whatever fees your paying for the ATM withdrawl is better compared to the exchange rate and service charges you would get had you done a currency exchange. By the way, get a Capital One card. I just got mine and its up and ready for our next trip to Europe. There's no foreign transaction fee. |
JennyP, you are right about that. This forum is filled with old posts of mine in which I mentioned that BofA didn't charge a fee no matter which country those partner banks were in. But this past summer all that changed and now they do in fact charge if the bank is not in its home country -- as you describe a couple of cases.
But by the way, my BofA account also allows me two withdrawals per month from non affiliated banks without any fee. With two of us that means we can stray from partner bank ATMs four times in a month and still have no ATM fees at all. |
