Very much enjoyed the report and the photos, thank you! I loved the Dordogne when I visited almost ten years ago; now I see I must visit Bordeaux too.

Thank you all so much.

The photo of the music conductor was the curtain in my room in the Hotel Majestic in Bordeaux. The musical notes were on the carpet!

Off to label more.

Beautiful pictures!
I have decided we definitely have to plan a trip when we can go to Giverny in the spring.

Great photos! Looks like a wonderful trip! I have GOT to get to Giverny.

I so enjoyed this trip report and your photos are excellent.

TDudette May 14th, 2016 07:54 AM

And more thanks. Hopefully, all the photos now are labeled (unless it's obvious) and in chron order.

I forgot to write that Giverny was desserted after the last relative died and mouldered until a group restored it in the 1970s. Copies were made of all the amazing original art and the house and gardens were restored using Monet's notes, photos, seed orders and other bills. Most of the works had been donated to various museums at his death (if my reading memory serves).

There is a road between the house and the pond with the bridge. An American donated the underground passageway. Monet's neighbors formally complained that all his water plantings would be toxic to the water supply. I believe that is where he met Clemenceau.

Corrections kindly supplied are always invited.

Thanks 2010 and 2can2!

I promised DH I'd take him back to Venice but it may have to be at a way off off time of the year. I await the invention of the Transporter....
