Ann what do you think of Southwest? Huh?

I guess we should also be beating up all the fools who fly 1st class and pay 5-10 times the price of coach. Maybe we should sneer at them as we make our way to the back of the plane and whine that we have to pay $4 for a drink that the people in 1st class are getting for &quot;free&quot;. My $600 trip would have cost me $6600. Those people aren't all frequent flyer upgrades. Someone is paying for that. Lets see, $6000 for wider seats, slighly better bad airline food and getting to be the 1st on board.<BR><BR>I'm not sure Ann said she raised hell on the phone, but someone asked for opinions and she gave hers for which she was called fat, a liar an and the assumption was made that she is bitchy and rude to waiters, hotel and employees and everyone else on the planet. Bill<BR>You have shown us the errors of our ways. Ann was simply speaking her mind and she has every right to do so. It IS her money and she can spend it as she sees fit, just as those willing to pay the outlandish prices for the front of the plane. Ann stated her opinion and the others took offense at that. However, even given the fact that she has the right to state her opinion, I still think she is crazy and a spendthrift and just plain stinking nuts.

Flew Aer Lingus from Shannon to Dublin a week ago. First time with AL. Plane had not been cleaned, seats stained, flight attendants rude and slovenly. Never again, not even for free.

who flies from shannon to dublin. I hope you were changing planes to go elsewhere. advice,cheaper and quicker to drive.

My only problem with Aer Lingus occurred in the Dublin airport. On the return home, my mother was very ill--feverish. I asked at the desk if we could board the plane during preboarding and they graciously agreed to do so and would call us by name. The waiting area was crowded (many people sitting on the floor) and noisy because there were passengers from another flight also in the area. So we sat close to the desk to hear them call us. As I noticed the crowd begin to thin, I went up to the desk to find that our plane was over half boarded. Not only had they forgotten my sick mom, but they had forgotten to call any passengers after they boarded the back of the plane. The additional people that had boarded had just gotten in line even though they had had no call. We weren't the only ones politely, but stupidly, waiting our turn... It was mass confusion in the boarding area... So yes, I would use AL again if the price were right, but I would be extra careful.

Well, angry Bill-- some of us do fly from Shannon to Dublin, precisely to make the connections you were pleased to allude to, however obliquely. Tried driving from Shannon to Dublin lately? Roads (such as they are) torn up at both ends, no lighting, early morning driving, torrential rains (it's November, remember)and tight connections. I'm one of those people who get offended by the rudeness of others on these threads, but your uninformed assumptions about our travel requirements frankly piss me off and require, in my not so humble opinion, a reply in kind. Think again before you so gratuitously offer your pointless commentary. And while you're at it, try and remember that I was talking about Aer Lingus.

Seems to me that many people who fly out of the east coast of the US to Ireland on A.L. are satisfied. For the west coast to Ireland route, I've heard some people (one of the easiest going guys I know) swear to never fly Aer Lingus again (the strict electronics rule was mentioned once or twice). I guess an 11 hour flight can be hell on any airline.<BR><BR>Hey, I'd spend double to fly the airline of my choice too (depending on what &quot;double&quot; is. $200 vs. $400? Sure. $500 vs. $1000, probably not. Why? Frequent flyer miles. Sometimes paying the extra $200 gets you enough miles on your airline to fly business class somewhere else! <BR><BR>But my miles are on United, so I guess that's another story altogether!

Mina<BR>better use those miles up real fast cause it looks like UA might soon be history...bankrupt filing any time now and who know what then? IMHO it serves them right because I think they are the worst airline around...talk about arrogant and rude, that is UA.

So don't need that extra seat. When's the last time you ran a 38-minute 10K? It was my legs, not my butt that was cramped. Me normal? Nah.<BR><BR>And I figured you meant 200 v. 400 as far as paying double. ;-) You didn't seem so unsensible as to pay hundreds and hundreds more. <BR><BR>Happy Hal, yes, you are right! I hope to book something quick after my flight to/from Europe (Fortunately, I don't have a lot left). Thank God all those miles were accrued with the company dime! (Although it was MY body stuck at O'Hare all those times....)
