Amsterdam Hotels

Suggestions or recommendations for B&B or small to medium 2/3 star hotels in central Amsterdam? 1 person, private bath, 80-100 Euros, possible?

susan, go to the local bookstore and take notes & fax #s from books on amsterdam. Everywhere are great little hotels. You will love the city and the locals. You can walk or catch a cab from the train stn. to your B&B. Have a super time !)

Susan--<BR>I'm sure it's possible because the canal-side hotel we stayed at in April 2002, rated 4 stars, offers single rooms with shower and toilet for 100 euros (December 1 - March 15) or 105 euros (March 15 - November 30). Lavish breakfast buffet was an additional 12 euros. (The bakery at the corner opens at 7 am.)<BR><BR>Hotel Toren is at 164 Keizersgracht, about a block and a half away from the Ann Frank house and the Westermarkt which is a stop for several tram lines.<BR>The hotel is charming; the staff, always pleasant and helpful; the neighborhood, quiet yet convenient. We had quite a choice of restaurants and cafes within two blocks in any direction. <BR><BR>www.toren.nl<BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR>

Susan--<BR>You may find some interesting places that meet your requirements by doing a search here.<BR>Type 'Amsterdam hotels' in the text search box at the top of this column, select 'Netherlands,' then 'Find.'<BR>I've topped one such thread for you.<BR>

Thanks to all!! Yes, I've got my maps, guidebook, internet search galore, but being completely unfamiliar with the lay-of-the-land and various districts and neighborhoods, it's been a bit trickier than usual to plan. I so appreciate all the information very much.

Try Hotel Fita. I stayed there last week and found it very nice. Very close to museums.<BR><BR>www.fita.nl
