My daughter and I both are going to complain about it..Even if is useless, at least I will feel better about it..
|
Well, it's been six days since I e-mailed AA, and still no response. What's a girl to do?
|
I e-mailed AA about the loss of leg room in coach and I received a reply within about 36 hours. It seems to be the same reply another poster received "---difficult but prudent decision---" etc. We have Aadvantage miles for one more Europe trip and we will purchase a companion ticket. Afterwards we'll be looking for the cheapest flight or the one with the best service since leg room will no longer be an issue. If enough people -- even the cheapies like me who buy coach tickets -- refuse to fly AA, maybe then management will come their senses.
|
Vehhhhry interesting...AA's prices for flights to Europe went way down today. I went ahead and bought my ticket for $600 less than it was yesterday.
|
Hi Jocelyn, Would you mind telling us what the final price was for the ticket, as well as the month you are flying.
Thanks. |
Hi kane,
Sure. My flight is Tulsa to Rome round trip (one connection) in June for just over $1000. Kinda sad that I'm excited about that! If it goes down again I'll get the difference back. AA's still doing that, right??? |
Right at least for domestic flights - I got a voucher to use withing the year.
|
Jocelyn, So your original fare was $1,600! Another poster "Ischu" reports a fare of $1,400 from Chicago O'Hare to (someplace) in Italy. These prices seem awfully high to me. I guess there's not much you can do about it, except to cancel your plans.
Although domestically, every day of the week, USAir charges $1,076 to fly from Hartford, CT to Charlotte, NC. Outrageous! I'm told "They own the route." |
kane,
Yes, these fares are getting outrageous, especially for us in the smaller cities. Before AA's markdown, I could have gotten it for about $1250 on another airline, but with an extra connection. I paid $1000 for my Lubbock-Verona ticket last May so I'll be surprised if this year's price goes lower. Over $1000 to fly halfway down the coast??? The only direct flight I assume. I recently checked for a Tulsa to Denver flight: $350 for a direct flight, but $133 if I wanted to go through Minneapolis or Detroit. We drove. |
I bought my tickets Oct. 6 for May 29th and paid $729 taxes included..
It is an open jaw flight. Leaving from SAT( Texas) to FCO and from CDG to SAT.. I am very pleased with price, althought that I am upset about their intentions of removing the extra legroom.. |
<$1,076 to fly from Hartford to Charlotte. They own the route.>
At that price, they can have it. I think you would be better off driving, or taking a train or bus. With their dismal safety record, USAIR has been on my do not fly list for years. Their current financial woes don't help. Seeing these high prices to Europe makes me glad I can travel in the off season. Jocelyn is right - the prices are ridiculously high for small towns. Since they aren't on the main routes, they get the short end of the stick. |
Perhaps that is one of the things people should consider when they move to a "small town" and rave to the rest of us about "how great" it is...too bad about the high-priced air part.
In terms of listening to all those nasty accountants at American..apparently they figured out that when they listened to all those "wonderful marketing people" they got left in the dust by the other carriers...it's all about profit and denying that here, or anywhere else, is foolhardy. |
