One of the greatest joys of the Internet is that you can tell your bridge club anything you like and they'll never be the wiser :D If you like the idea of a chat room, then that's what it is! Welcome! |
Hi passportplus! Good to have you here!
|
knoxvillecouple, I read it exactly as you did. I'm sure Texas Aggie's view of what constitutes "senior" will change as she/he ages! I read recently that the AARP is having trouble recruiting members in their 50s now. Nobody wants to hear from them until they are 60 these days, and even that may be too soon for some!

Hi Passportplus,
Your post and thread title were just charming. Nice to have you here. :-) Are you planning a trip or just hanging out? |
You all make me laugh!!! I don't mind being called a senior, or whatever. Don't worry about me taking things personal, I usually figure people are basically nice, and don't mean anything unkind. Yes, husband and I are taking a Holland / Belgium riverboat trip. Our first ever overseas. I think I'm better off in a "message room" like this one. Oh, just one other comment off the subject, but all us seniors getting "senior discounts". We're not the ones who need them. We have all the $$ :-}. It's the young folks, raising families who really need the discounts.

Hi P, Welcome!
:) |
Texas Aggie, hey hey hey, that sure caught my eye too... like mid-50s she's a real oldie goldie or something ;-)
The comment surprised me because any one who currently works in a business environment, has computer and internet access and knows how to use it, second nature to any career, certainly that covers most of the mid-50's folks I know. |

You're doing great in that you were able to reply to your original question on the same thread and not re-posting as a new thread. Better than most who are probably half your age (whatever that maybe) Most of today's seniors are yesterdays 40-year olds. Welcome aboard. |
Sandi, after all, 60 is the NEW 40, ya'know!!!;;) Deborah

Hiya passportplus,
Isn't Fodors great? Try getting involved in the "Things to do in and around Lisbon" thread http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...54&start=0 At times that feels like a chat room! Matt |
Hi passportplus. I think it's wonderful for older folk to be able to use the internet. I'm visiting my dad at this moment, and writing this on his computer. He is 97, lives in a house by himself, and regularly surfs the web for news and weather. He sends and receives e-mail, too. Keeps him young, I think.

"Holland / Belgium riverboat trip"
That sounds wonderful! I hope you find all the planning information you need on the internet, and then some. Fodor's is a great place to come to for new ideas, too. @};- |
Posting back to clarify my comments as I did not intend in any way for them to be taken the way they are! I was attempting merely to congratulate passportplus (who mentioned in her post that she is an older senior lady) on accomplishing something that persons younger have yet to do. My mom is my best friend in the world and I definitely do not consider her elderly, instead a wonderfully warm woman who has wisdom and warmth... but whom doesn't like technology so much ;-)
