Air Berlin Flight cancellation

Hello

Got a mail saying my DUS-VIE got cancelled and not offering alternative flight.

As per EU law I am eligible to get alternative option as I saw there are other flights of Airberlin flying on the same day.

Please suggest.

Not sure how many options you have for a carrier that is on the verge of bankruptcy:

They are going out of business so have no flights to offer you. Do you know that they had empty seats on those other flights you saw? I imagine they are completely full since they are cutting their schedule due to the bankruptcy. I believe they are liquidating.

You don't mention refund problems, so I gather they didn't just take your money and you get nothing.

First, I don't think you are owed anything if they cancel more than 14 days in advance. Second, I suspect they don't owe you anything (penalty, for example) as going out of business could probably be called "extraordinary circumstances" which exempts them. I don't think they have any flights, they are cancelling tons of them.

Book another flight.

Hi
Thanks for replies.

Airberlin cancelled flight just less than a week departure time. They just offered only refund and there is 4 flights still available with seats.

On this day and route, suitable flights only Airberlin or train.

Their call Centre not responding after 10 minutes and no response for emails too..

Sounds like you should take the refund and book another flight on a different carrier
