Adding gifs and smiley faces??

Okay, I know this is not a travel question, but how do you add those smiley faces and other gifs in the messages?

Lesli Mar 31st, 2004 09:27 AM

Go to www.fodors.com/forums/smileys/

Enjoy! :D

monicapileggi Mar 31st, 2004 12:08 PM

Patty Mar 31st, 2004 01:14 PM

I know about the smileys, but how do you make text bold or italicized?

rex Mar 31st, 2004 01:22 PM

Remove the underscores ( _ ) from the following:

<_B_>bold<_/B_> = bold

and

<_I_>italics<_/I_> = italics

Best wishes,

Rex

monicapileggi Mar 31st, 2004 01:35 PM

bold

Cool!!

Clifton Mar 31st, 2004 01:35 PM

Using Rex's conventions:

<_U_>underline<_/U> = Underline

Patty Mar 31st, 2004 01:43 PM

Let's see if this works

Thanks Rex!

jenifer Mar 31st, 2004 02:02 PM

So, then can you also use html to make clickable links?

<a href='http://www.yahoo.com'>Yahoo</a>

jenifer Mar 31st, 2004 02:02 PM

Nope, guess not! :D

NYCFoodSnob Mar 31st, 2004 02:03 PM

"Using Rex's conventions..."

Clifton, daaarhhhhling, you did mean basic HTML, didn't you? \:D/

melissa19 Mar 31st, 2004 02:07 PM

so i type this in, =D>, and it comes out a smiley?

monica, thanks for asking!

cigalechanta Mar 31st, 2004 02:10 PM

<_B_>_/B_> how do you remove the undelines?

monicapileggi Mar 31st, 2004 02:22 PM

cigalechanta,
Copy/paste <_B_>_/B_> and then delete the underscores on each side of the B's. Can't show you - If I do it then it will just come out bold.

Gardyloo Mar 31st, 2004 02:26 PM

Or < s > and < /s > (no spaces) for <s>strikeout</s> or combine it for <s>STRIKEOUT</s>

cigalechanta Mar 31st, 2004 02:39 PM

/B>

Clifton Mar 31st, 2004 02:43 PM

Well, yes I suppose I did. LOL. I just didn't want to have to re-explain removing the underscores. I suppose by convention, I meant his "diagramming" convention.

Now if we could plug in a few CSS style modifiers, we could create all sorts of purdy posts.

nnrobnz Mar 31st, 2004 02:49 PM

Will it work even on my old Mac?

((a))

I love it!

Scarlett Mar 31st, 2004 04:32 PM

To think that some posters have been known to fuss at some of us for using these charming little gifs~

Here goes:

=:-)

Nope - didn't work.
So what IS the trick?

twoflower Oct 17th, 2004 04:20 AM

Hilarious! Doesn't show on the draft - only when the message is posted!

=:-)

mgmargate Oct 17th, 2004 04:23 AM

How do you prevent them from randomly appearing in your post?

ira Oct 17th, 2004 04:29 AM

Hi mg,

If you go to the page with the smileys you will see that they include : and ( and other symbols. So if you were to write a : and a ( next to each other, like this :( you would get a face.

nkd Oct 17th, 2004 04:41 AM

Hello Ira:Thanks.

goatee Oct 17th, 2004 06:50 AM

Just trying out the € euro symbol... :)

rex Nov 17th, 2004 04:15 AM

I just had to come back to look at this set of postings - - mentioned on http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34541276 - - as "my" thread...

...amusing... I can't imagine why this thread belongs to me - - and not to monica? or Lesli?

... or as NYCFoodSnob mentions - - did I somehow merit getting credit for HTML comventions?
