Orvieto Classico

My favorite
P - pinot grigio |
Pinot Grigio - a favorite of mine for cooking seafood stews.
|
St Cirq - reminds of a saying "I love cooking with wine, and sometimes I even put it in the food!". I can remember who said it but it is a favorite.
Patrick - yes, you got the better wine but I think you're right, it belongs in the N slot! :) |
After doing a little googling:
Q is for Quagliano, "a robust wine from the Piedmont region". |
VERY good, Patrick. I thought Q was going to be a major problem.
|
Rabolla (sp?)
|
St Cirq == if lambrusco is "ugh" then maybe Lachryma Christi would do.
|
S -- sangiovese
|
Oh yeah, we've got to have Lachyrma Christi-- what a name!
|
T = Trebbiano
Table wine Tannin |
uva, that's what it is made of...
|
vendemnia,
|
W for Wine-cellar, that's what you need to show some respect for the efforts of the producer,
X for Xeres, a city in SW andalousia, or sherry, Y for yield, or the surface productivity, Z for zuccheraggio, or chaptalization in italian |
...I didn't find anything italian for the X and Y, sorry...
|
I had to dig deep for that "J" StCirq.
J = Julius Caesar. From wine writer Fred McMillin, "When conquering Gaul (France), Julius Caesar found several tribes that forbid the consumption of wine. The reason? The leaders feared it would reduce their men's will to fight. Apparently they didn't notice that wine didn't seem to cause the Roman legions any problem!" ((H)) |
Brilliant "U" Baldrick!
I would suggest Vinsanto (Vin Santo?) for V as well. Looks like we've done the best we can -- I award you all 4 stars! |
