A note from Ben Haines

Mr Ben Haines has asked me to say that he has asked Fodors Forum mnagers to re-link him to this Forum. There is a glitch, and the software rejects his attempts to log in.

This co-incides with an illness,of two leg ulcers and two inflamed toes, which he says render him less active than he would choose. He says it is a pleasure of the forum that it lets him travel in his mind, although his last actual trip,Slovakia, was in June 2003.

cigalechanta Feb 13th, 2004 06:53 AM

Dear Ben, I hope you are feeling better by the time you read this.

judybarnes Feb 13th, 2004 06:54 AM

Please tell Mr. Haines that I for one miss his generous input! I wish him a speedy and complete recovery and return to vibrant good health.

elberko Feb 13th, 2004 06:55 AM

Oh my, I'm sorry to hear that. I had wondered where he was.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Ben Haines.

Scarlett Feb 13th, 2004 06:58 AM

Oh, Ben, the boards are lonely without you! Sending you many good wishes for better health and better software!

Hats off to London tourism's most gracious ambassador! Hope you will be joining us again soon. My last London trip was a big success thanks to your postings.

starspinners Feb 13th, 2004 07:06 AM

Ben Haines is a wonderful 'unofficial ' ambassador for London.
Thank you for letting us know why we've not seen his postings lately.
Please convey my wishes that he will soon be bicycling all about town and that a longer trip is in his near future.

flanneruk Feb 13th, 2004 07:09 AM

Ben:

I was beginning to worry about you.

And why you were still helping the low-lifes on the LP board.

Do get better soon. We need your courtesy badly.

jamikins Feb 13th, 2004 07:25 AM

janis Feb 13th, 2004 07:53 AM

Hi Ben,

I've missed your interesting posts.

Hope you recover quickly.

brookwood Feb 13th, 2004 08:20 AM

I think we all need to get on those Fodors folks if one of their glitches are keeping Ben off. That is almost like taking the eggs out of Easter.

Ben, I am distressed by the news about your health problems. Get well soon so you can resume your travels. And keep giving us the good word on travel.

dovima Feb 13th, 2004 08:27 AM

Dear Mr. Haines, hurry back. I see a time in the very near future where I would once again be a grateful recipient of your sage advice. Best wishes for your recovery.

JudyC, please pass yet another "wish you a speedy recovery" on to Mr. Haines, and yes, we all need to get onto the Fodors tech department so they will get him back on! Thanks JudyC!

Ben, you are my traveling hero, please know that we all wish you better health in the future. You can "virtually" travel with us here on this forum. Fodors managers, please help us reconnect with Ben! :-) Judy

JudyC Feb 13th, 2004 10:08 AM

It is my pleasure to post the note for Mr Haines, I knew his absence from the Forum must have been greatly missed.

Although having never met Mr Haines, but as many others, being inspired by his generosity of sharing info, his kindness, patience and never failing courtesy,I have tried to become a more informed and open-minded traveler.

Dear Mr Haines, wish you and all of us many a happy sleeping car from Kesztheley to Plovdiv in the near future.

sandykins Feb 13th, 2004 10:27 AM

Mr Haines, I am sorry you are not well. I have missed your posts. Get better soon!

Myer Feb 13th, 2004 10:31 AM

I'm really sorry to hear that Mr Haines is not well. I wish him a speedy recovery.

On the other topic of not being able to log in.

Things happen sometimes.

Why doesn't he try to set up a new user name with a slightly altered handle.

For example. Instead of Mr Ben Haines how about Sir Ben Haines. Etc

mclaurie Feb 13th, 2004 10:36 AM

I too was becoming concerned about Sir Ben's absence here. What can we do to help solve the software problem? I have certainly had my share of software problems here.

Mr. Haines, Sir Ben, wishing you a complete & speedy recovery.

bobthenavigator Feb 13th, 2004 10:37 AM

Get well Ben--you are needed.

Byrd Feb 13th, 2004 12:47 PM
