Just got the okay to plan a trip for May in time for the big Brocante at Bastille!!

nukesafe Nov 3rd, 2010 10:29 AM

What "big" Brocante at Bastille, Avalon? Is it something special? We will be in Paris from May 15th, so I hope it is not before that.

avalon Nov 3rd, 2010 12:14 PM

Nuke you are in luck it runs thru the 16th!

The really really good stuff is in the exhibion building and the more reasonable things are outside all along the Seine on both sides. We like to go for the food and wine stalls in addition to the merchandise.

Sign up at this site and they will send you free tickets!

Thank you, Avalon. I did register, but the online invitations are for the November, 2010 show. I'll go back on for the May exhibition.

They will send them to you automatically!

Great report Avalon, loved revisting so many of my favourite places again with you!!

I also thought Le Caveau d'Isle an excellent restaurant and went back again four years apart and it was still as good.

Maybe we should think about there for a GTG? I will be in Paris next year again, so let's start thinking about it!

We'll be there in May!

schnauzer Nov 4th, 2010 08:31 PM

Shame, I am there in June and then again in July. Oh well, I will have to post a separate thing later on and see what happens.

Changed to March now and again in late Oct and November!

TDudette Nov 11th, 2010 12:27 PM

" window lick" sounds better in French, eh?

Really enjoying this report. Neat to have GTGs with other Fodorites.

Avalon, I really enjoyed your picture trip through Paris! Brings back memories of our trip back in May, but may need to hire you as my tour guide next trip; I apparently missed a few good restaurants and - well quite a bit!

Good job; and at 72 you all are my inspiration!

Jody, a wonderful report that I missed earlier. So sad to hear the Guirlande de Julie has changed. Several years ago, traveling alone, I spent Valentine's day there for lunch.
Happy to hear you saw Michael and hope he and Scott are well.

avalon Nov 12th, 2010 01:09 AM

I was sad too as St Cirq gave it very high marks and I trust her food recommendations. Michael and Scott were both well, happy and best of all busy!

Did you see the Henry Moore exhibit at the Rodin museum, if so, what was it like? Am thinking about trying to get up to Paris before it closes.

Enjoyed your trip report.

avalon Nov 12th, 2010 10:25 AM

Cathinjoetown, we just saw the outdoor pieces as neither of us was much interested in the rest of the exhibit and have been to the Rodin many times. We mainly went for lunch and a stroll thru the gardens

avalon Nov 12th, 2010 10:28 AM

Follow the picture link in the 2nd post >>I think 2nd.. and you can see the pieces we saw on page 8 and 9.The on piece is calld the Arch and the other something about a lock

Thanks, Avalon, found your photos. Looks as if you had a wonderful time. I understand about the knees.

Here's the story about the locks on Pont des Arts, where we celebrated our 49th anniversary by adding ours
