Seriously enjoyed your pics. Many thanks.

Thank You for giving appreciation. The location is really awesome to book a trip by ferry to travel across the European countries. The trip can be booked in advance too.

I am finally posting my final installments on the thread (New Year's eve), so after today you can forget about it. :-)

I love your posts, kerouac. It's so nice to have a Paris connection to get our fix!

Happy New Year!

It is my pleasure to listen that Paris is your favorite place to travel in the vacation. Happy New Year to one and all. The city is full of cultural and historical background.

I just came in from wandering around Spanish Steps area in Rome. If I could post my pics quickly I would post the pics of blue and white lights on display there, too. Must be the color theme this year!! Trees were covered in white lights with large blue-lit hanging balls. It was lovely and I was glad to see that hadn't cleared out all of the holiday decorations yet.

Thank you, K2! Loved your pictures. I only took a few when we were there earlier in December but being a woman of a certain age, I remember the past Christmas lights which I prefer.

Your pictures made the CE look better than the several nights we walked it. My daughter and her husband preferred the old lights themselves but we have to change with the times. You met them later, I believe at our dear friend's party on the 27th. Mu said she enjoyed meeting my forum friends I haven't really met......

Thank you again for this thread. Looking back, I'm enjoying them now as captured by your camera more than when I was walking up and down the CE.

Bonne Annee!!!

Wonderful, kerouac! I was last in Paris around Christmas-time in 1987, and I'm preeeetty sure there were not this many lights. Wow, how things change!

I have to say, I love them all - over-the-top and sedate - but I have to immediately follow that by saying I am so glad they're temporary. Thanks for taking us outside the usual spots - as usual. I know exactly which stairs you were on for that "Le Grenier a Pain" picture.

I wonder if the girls were posing for a picture to be sent to their parents to prove they were "studying?" LOL, cute.

Yes, you noticed all of the books as well!

My next report might be about Chinese New Year in Paris. That can be rather spectacular as well, contrary to popular belief.

Thanks, kerouac! Hope to be in Paris next December to join you all in the festivities!

Those are super, kerouac. I was in Paris last January and saw the lights then. It's a stunning show

Kerouac, thank you so much for all your wonderful Christmas photos of Paris! We were just there December 27-January 2; in fact, attended Mass at Notre Dame on January 1. We haven't posted a trip report, but your photos capture many of our experiences. They are beautiful. Many, many thanks!

Shoot. We can't watch it here in US on copyright grounds. Copyright grounds?

KL467 Nov 17th, 2012 11:08 AM

Lovely photos! Thank you for posting.

kerouac Nov 17th, 2012 12:20 PM

Damn, I knew that was going to happen, stokebailey. That's because I added a music track since the original is mostly just traffic noise. I will try to do a new version that won't be blocked.

stokebailey Nov 17th, 2012 12:42 PM

Ah! Thanks.

di2315 Nov 18th, 2012 01:30 AM

Thanks, Kerouac - it's the next best thing to being there!
Is it too early to say 'Merry Christmas'? Di

kerouac Nov 18th, 2012 12:47 PM

Sorry to those of you who could not watch the video due to copyright issues.

Here is a silent version, but feel free to play music from the film Amélie if you want to get the full experience.
