I would go to Paris and have my family with me. Half of them have never been to Europe and have no idea how delightful Paris can be! Of course I want to try Taillevant, but I'll settle for Jules Verne so they can check out the view. Will probably ditch them to go shopping in the Marais or the Bon Marche while they go to the Louvre. definitely need a meal at La Fontaine de la Mars, since I missed it last time, and will take them to the miniature alcohol emporium near Cafe Crepes des Arts, for a good laugh.
I don't know where I'm staying yet, but I hope it's at least 3 stars! |
I'd call all my relatives in Norway and we'd meet and have a "Land of The Midnight Sun" party for 48 hours.
((H)) |
I'd take my husband only. Order a picnic dinner from IL RITROVO in Montpertuso, buy at least one bottle of Prosecco, hire a boat at the dock in Positano, and drift off to sea until it was time for a midnight swim!
|
You all have some bang up birthdays here! Since I haven't answered my own question, here's mine:
Since it's a wish, I'd like to be in the middle of Peter Mayle's novel. Provence, France, at the Hotel Pastis. With my husband and all my friends and family who are foodies... and we'd eat a wonderful meal, and Peter Mayle would be so taken with all of us that he'd make us characters in his next book! |
MAITAITOM
May I change my mind??? How about renting all the rorbuers at Sakrisoy Rorbuer....in Reine.... filling them with family & friends!! |
"May I change my mind???"
The more the merrier. Pardon my ignorance, but since I have not been to Norway since 1968, you'll have to fill me in on "rorbuers at Sakrisoy Rorbuer....in Reine...." But if there are cocktails, I'm there! ((H)) |
We'll fill the coolers full of ice & pack the drinks in......
www.lofoten-info.no/sakrisoy.htm Take a look......... |
Okay, Bailey, took a look. Those Russian crab legs have my name on them. Back off everyone, it was my birthday first!

MAITAITOM
See what you started.... WE definitely have to book all the rorbuers....... And wait til you see the view!!!...it's located above the artic circle...surrounded by snow capped mountains..... and the rorbuers (little fishing cottages) are built over crystal water!!!! Who's making the cake???? Din?? |
Oh boy ! does that look cold!
It must be wonderful in the summer! I like the look of all that seafood but the doll museum reminded me of an old Twilight Zone episode...eek~ Rum Cake for Maitaitom!!! |
Paris, with my wife of 52 years. It will be our 13th trip but who's counting ((F)):-B
|
52 years? Is wonderful!!! Ed I salut You:), By the way 13 is my lucky number....have a glass of champagne on me,
ciao, kismet |
I've thought of one other place I'd happily go for 48 hours-- the Adare Manor Annex in Adare, Ireland. Again, I'd take just my husband ( leave the kids home) but only if we'd arrive in time for breakfast. Their scones and ginger-lemon tea are the true antidote for jet leg. And that fluffy bed in a huge room with a picture window that overlooked endless acres of green meadow and cows, wasn't bad, either...

Since I was just in Venice a month ago for the first time, and felt I didn't get to see enough, I'm blowing those candles and packing my bags for Venice!

ed, 52 years of marriage is an inspiring accomplishment ((L)) and deserves more than 48 hours! The special birthday concierge grants you another destination, on the house.
|
I agree, Ed! Congrats and wishes for many more!

" old Twilight Zone episode...eek~"
Scarlett, who can ever forget the words, "I'm Talking Tina, and I'm going to kill you." Telly Savalas never had a chance. No rum cake for Tina. She's not invited (although she made it out of that garbage can. Bailey it seems like the party is on in the Arctic. By the way, dln, who is giving us all this money. ((H)) |
Tom: the special birthday concierge, of course. As stated above, "expense account is unlimited." Ed is the only one to be granted an extension, though. :-((
