la ... merci, merci ... beaucoup

LN Mar 22nd, 2004 12:03 PM

Pardon moi si vou plais?

Huitres Mar 22nd, 2004 12:06 PM

grimmy, the correct way to say that is "je depart pour Paris aujourd'hui" quitter is used to quit or leave (like a job, a building, etc) while departer is used to depart, on vacance, trip, etc.

J'aime beaucoup les mots francais.

SoBeTraveller Mar 22nd, 2004 12:25 PM

Est-ce que vous parlez le francais? Bien? Studiante? Habitez la ou ici?

easytraveler Mar 22nd, 2004 12:33 PM

Pourquoi on n'ecrite pas en trois ou cinq mots?

111op Mar 22nd, 2004 12:37 PM

C'est la regle du jeu.

(Un bon film aussi.)

Huitres Mar 22nd, 2004 12:41 PM

Ma mere est francaise.

caribtraveler Mar 22nd, 2004 12:50 PM

huitre: not to be anal..but saying "je depars pour paris" in incorrect. what grimmy wrote at first is correct...a bit casual french, but correct. it means "i leave for paris today".
in case you have any doubts. french is my first language. :-)

but now i'm confused about where to pick up the story...

Huitres Mar 22nd, 2004 01:38 PM

caribtraveler...it's not anal at all, thanks for the clarification...I and others I know have all used "departer" in those instances, "quitter" indeed is casual and informal. French is my 2nd language as we grew up speaking it and English in the home (French mother), while Italian would be a 3rd language.
