20 yr old alone in Paris for 4 days

While boyfriend is in classes, his girlfriend will be alone on her own. 1st time in Paris, 1st time traveling alone. What suggestions do you have for things to do?

Check the Fodors "Destinations" tab, check some guidebooks, and do a search here about Paris.

The first time I was alone in Paris at 20 my favorite two things I did was stroll through the parks and go to the museums. Both are, in my opinion, much more fun on your own because you can explore at your own pace.

I would simply walk around in the central parts of the city. Get a good map and go explore. If the weather's nice, visit the various parks, find a street market. Go to one or two of the smaller museums.

What - no shopping? I don't shop much, but I like it better without anyone tagging along.

I was alone in Paris when I was 21. While I never felt unsafe, I did have a Canadian flag patch sewn onto my daypack. I felt that this got me some unwanted attention (including 2 invitations to dinner by total strangers) and went back to my hotel room and ripped the thing off. Felt much safer after that and maybe it was my imagination, but I seemed to be left alone after that.

There are plenty of things to keep her busy in Paris, but as a young female I would suggest trying to blend into the crowd a little more than I did on my first solo trip! (I cringe when I think about it, ugh...)
