Great thread?
The Hidden Rules of English Behavior |
Can anyone be this shallow?

Is this a troll post? Or really for real?
|
It's for real. I went to the poster's photo links and saw her picture. She's draped in diamonds, but looks like she's enjoying herself. I wonder if she has only recently begun travel. Anyone who has a background in budget travel when young and dirt poor just doesn't "get her" at first. Now that I'm in my early 30's and fortunate enough to stay in nicer hotels over hostels, I understand her kind of travel experience, I think. I finally have the expendable income which allows me not to worry about how I'm going to eat anymore; rather, "What will I wear to dinner?" I got a cool LV fake in Paris--only 5 Euro, and the "vendor" ran when the cops turned the corner.

I assumed that it was a joky post.
Isn't the "rule" that you wear very little jewellery before the evening. Mrs. O. says that wedding and engagement ring only and possibly something like a locket are fine during the day. Necklaces, bracelets and other rings are strictly for after 5 PM. I bow to her superior female knowledge. She says with a ;-) that Emily Post would not advocate diamonds worn with shorts. |
Three brands of purse signal American to me: Dooney & Burke (as noted above), Coach, and most of all, Brighton. I have never seen anyone who isn't American (and usually from the South, including Texas) carrying a Brighton bag. There is nothing wrong with any of those brands, but all three and Brighton in particular seem to have a uniquely American appeal.

I guess some of you didn't get it! Really I'm just joking and being sarcastic with my remarks and some are really taking me serious. I really found this thread a little peculiar. I understand we all ask very strange questions at times, including myself. Although, the mention of material possesions (brand names) there prices and diamond sizes I found a little pretentious. This is a site regarding travel. I will ask about how much a hotel or a restaurant may cost, but I guess I would not mention if my wife should bring a certain jewel or hand bag? It's obvious some have traveled before(poster) and visually see that others "europeans" have things. Also, hate to say it but don't flaunt it the way we Americans do! No wonder we as Americans get the reputation of being ostentatious! I don't mean to get on my preacher box, but I think some of us seem to forget that this is a universal travel site. " Should I bring my nice things to Italy" Wow if I were only Italian!!!!

I looked at your photos and you two are so cute. You look like brother and sister and happy as minks. Wear your jewelry, it looks good on you. Have fun in Sept 06.
