I'm not whining - far from it. I really think "formal" is an anachronism in this day. Wearing a blazer (as I also do) is not formal. It really is complying while feeling a little bit of a maverick. It really is gaming the system. You are allowed to defend and rhapsodize over the formal nights if and only if you wear the full formal gear

I agree with LWsailor in that there are more important things to talk about and this thread really has gone on too far IMHO. There is no right or wrong answer. We all have different tastes and are entitled to them. IMHO to assume that dressing up makes one pretentious is baseless. i just can't imagine how anyone could say that. Aristotle there are differences of opinion so just accept it and move on. Thats what I am doing. There are better, more fun topics to discuss and information to be had and to give. Bye bye and have fun cruising.

Your right it is a waist of time and my dictionary is heavy and my vocabulary isn't what it should be so let's put this to rest. I think people make too much of the words "Formal Nights" any way. And no you do not have to be rich to travel, for my wife & I are not and we seem to manage quite well. If you don't want to, don't and if you do, go ahead but don't blame it on somebody else if you don't. You can work around just about anything if you try really hard, just ask me.
Good Cruiseing.
