This site does make you chuckle..that's why we all keep coming back I guess.

If you are a 'cruise only' traveler, read no further because I am about to go way off base considering where I am at. (And even though I am a member of AARP, I DO know where I am at!) I checked with Alitalia tours today because I'd heard they were running some good specials, so I'll run this by you. Your flight to Rome, 5 nights in hotel (6 to chose from), breakfast, and airport/hotel transfers for $599 for one person and $399 for your companion. That's from Newark, from Chicago it's a little more for the second person and I don't know what it is from the 3 or 4 other US cities Alitalia flies out of because they were in the wrong direction. Even with getting to Newark or Chicago added on, that is a good deal. You have to book by 1/15 and leave by 3/15. I ran this by my husband this evening (his name is JOHNNY, by the way) and even though he is Italian, would love to go and thinks it's a great deal, I couldn't talk him in to it. He had to point out that we did go to Italy (Genoa) last summer and on 2 cruises the year before so I guess he has a point. But we were in Rome many years ago and I loved it and hope to go back 'someday'. My daughter and her husband went to Rome last February and spent more than that on their air-fare alone! And they had good weather while they were there..not hot of course, but pleasant.

Oh well, just food for thought. And before Reg can ask, we don't own any Alitalia stock!!!!
