Anyone Wanna Buy a Cruise Ship?

The Supremem Court of Gibraltar is auctioning off the Renaissance R1, R2, R5, R6, R8 and Ren VIII on Nov. 13th and 14th. The R7 on Nov. 26th.
the R3 and R4 remain docked on Tahiti.

Sounds like a great opportunity.

Paul

Paul,
Can you tell us how much they cost new and what their value is. Oh, and how much will they go for? Hope you will inform us after the auctions also.

Hi Bill,

You're kidding, right?

Paul

C'Mon Paul buy a ship. With all your groupies you should be able to scrounge up a couple hundred bucks.

I'd love to buy some of the now-defunct Premier Cruise Lines ships.......they had some classic liners in the fleet....Rotterdam, Oceanic, etc.

xxxx Nov 14th, 2001 07:40 AM

$70 million each

Paul Therault Nov 14th, 2001 08:27 AM

Did you just make up that figure?

Where did you get that info?

If it costs approximately 200 million to build the R Class ships I would presume the price would be about 114 million, opening bid.

Possibly the VIII, built in 1990 at 4,280 tons would start out at that price. It's a rowboat.

Just wine and dine a few bankers.

Paul

Michael: I was just in Port Lucays last month and the ship's you refer to (the ex-Premier ones) were just lined up at the dock. It was so sad... They looked totally abandoned. LOVED the Rotterdam.

Attn:Paul

No I didn't make the figure up, lets see who's nearest. Let me know when you find out.

Paul Therault Nov 15th, 2001 08:55 PM

Bids are announced when it is not a bankruptcy process. I doubt the price will be announced until after the sale, if at all.

I know the R Class ships are in excellent condition and they are not going to give them away.

If I receive the news in my office I will post it.

Paul

Bill Nov 17th, 2001 04:54 PM

Paul,
Since you obviously knew the cost why did you post "you're kidding"?

Paul Therault Nov 18th, 2001 01:15 AM

Hi Bill,

It sounded to me that you wanted to buy the ships. I do not know the present value.

Paul
