The Ukrainians are apparently taking things more calmly. After all, it's not their first rodeo.

The OP has been very quiet for a couple of days. I hope that means he's snoozing on a flight to the US, or that or he's out of the Ukraine.
|
Or on a train to the border with his pals!
I suspect since no one is willing to share his cruise cabin he has lost interest in Fodors. |
I hope he comes back to at least tell us he's OK.

As of yesterday Thu 24 Feb Ukraine closed its airspace. Fear of flying is now moot.
Train stations are now jammed. I hope CT you have gotten out or have a plan. |

If CT has dual citizenship he may not be able to get out. No males between 18-60 may leave.
It is almost incomprehensible that the OP never left despite warnings for over a month, and his mother's situation. In any event, there is some advice on the State Department website along with various links. If the OP ever makes it on to that Cunard cruise, I will be very surprised! https://travel.state.gov/content/tra...n-Ukraine.html |
Based on what I'm seeing on CNN, getting out by train or foot is becoming a nightmare. Trying to get out by car is extremely unlikely. And yes, men between 18 and 60 are needed to try to defend the country.
I posted the embassy link with info on getting out on his other thread yesterday lunch time. Only himself to blame if he's still there. If I remember right he's not in Kyiv, so it could be worse. However, likely not a good time and place to be a US citizen. |

I have been trying to catch a car from Ukraine to Poland but I just heard the Polish border guards won't let Polish people to come into Ukraine to pick up people plus the line to get from Ukraine into Poland is so extremely long even if I was able to find a vehicle. I guess my only option is to try to find a train. Thank you for your concern

Where are you now?

Not sure what you mean by "attacked", but surely you are aware that men are required to stay. And fight. (Makes me wonder about the Dancing with the Stars performer who is Ukrainian and is tweeting about trying to get out.)
Still wondering why you didn't take my advice and go to Poland for your second shot. |

Phew!
I am so glad you made it to Poland. I hope you find a place to stay and can make arrangements to finally get home. |
Cruise_traveler, please keep us posted about your progress. Hopefully you have found refuge and a way home.

My hometown had many, many Polish immigrants. I have never met kinder, warmer, more caring people. It may be generalizing, but if they were any example, immigrants will be cared for as much as possible by Poland.
