Off to St. Kitts and Nevis tomorrow. I'll post a Trip Report when I return.
I recommend Nevis as well. The Four Season and Montpelier are amazing. Visit www.nevisisland.com |
scoutjewel,
Nevis has lovely places to stay, so the difference is in the style you're looking for. Comparing the 4S and Nisbet is like comparing apples and oranges. Do you want the modern largish resort or do you want the small plantation inn? There is no wrong or right decision, but it's important that you make a choice based on your preferences for the type of place you like to stay. For being the largest hotel on Nevis, the low-rise 4S blends in well with the island but is a modern resort. Nisbet is a more intimate and traditional island accommodation. Nevis isn't large, so if you rent a car, the sights and other restaurants are easily accessible from both places. Do go and visit the other plantation inns while you're there. You do mention sunsets, and I think 4S would provide better sunset views and more reliably calm water. Though we went to the Nisbet beach a few times last year, and found the water calm and were able to snorkle there. Keep us posted on your final decision. CW |
Nisbet looks perfect for strictly r-n-r, but I have a feeling that it might be a little too slow paced for my son (and, truth be told, too slow for my husband, who says he just wants to chill, but I've never seen him just chill; he's always on the move). At this point, husband and I are planning to stay at $ (oops, typo; an "upper case" 4 is a $; coincidence????) 4 Seasons on this visit. We'll check out Nisbet while we're there to know if it would be good for a future visit.
I'm still interested in visiting the other 4Seasons resorts (Punta Mita and Exuma), but since I've visited Bahamas once and Mexico several times, I think I'd like to try a new location this time, so Nevis 4Seasons in June it is. Thanks to all for the insider info. |
I agree that for what you and your family are looking for, the 4S is your best fit on Nevis. It's a great little island and I hope you enjoy your visit there as much as I did!

You might want to scount this thread to check on the food in 2006 at FS-Great Exuma. As I indicated earlier our visits where disappointing only as far as the food. The resort is lovely, the rooms are first rate but if food has not improved you have a bit of traveling to find a good meal until the resorts going up are well on-stream.
